Job summary

Eaton Corporation is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to deliver standard engineering work and develop customer-specific solutions for MV switchgear applications. You will maintain BOMs and 3D models in PLM/SAP, while coordinating approvals with customers and stakeholders.

Candidates should hold a B.Sc. in Mechanical, Electromechanical or Mechatronics and bring at least 2 years of MV design experience, with strong English communication and teamwork skills in a global environment.

Qualifications

Job description

What you’ll do:

• As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will provide standard mechanical engineering deliverables and develop customer-specific mechanical solutions in line with customer requirements, applicable standards, and manufacturing capabilities. You will maintain accurate BOMs, 3D models, and manufacturing drawings within PLM/PDM systems and SAP.
• Providing mechanical design solutions to meet customer-specific requirements based on product knowledge, customer specifications, necessary safety precautions, design guidelines, international and Eaton standards as part of the engineering to order process. Prepares the technical specifications for the purchase of mechanical components, ensures the completeness and accuracy of the Bill of Materials (BOM) and related engineering material data.
• Drive customer approvals for both standard product deliverables and customized mechanical design solutions through effective coordination and communication. Prepare technical documentation, drawings, and work instructions as required.
• Conduct and support Design and Process FMEA activities to identify potential risks, implement mitigation actions, and improve product reliability and quality.
• Actively analyses and investigated issues occurring or opportunities to improve work quality, on time performance, efficiency in execution by means of improvements in processes, tooling, drawing methods/guidelines in close cooperation with management. Is pro-active in self learning of new methods, product knowledge or tooling.
• Is a team member: proactively communicates with all stakeholders (application engineering, electrical engineering, work preparation, order management, planning, supply chain and assembly) on technical and process, planning related matters.
• Document all activities, data and information in line with procedures.
• Provides 3D CAD design, drawings, and required internal documentation.
• Monitor technological developments and industry best practices in Mechanical Engineering, identify improvement opportunities, and implement approved solutions in alignment with management objectives.

Qualifications:

• Mechanical, Electromechanical or Mechatronics engineering degree B.Sc.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in mechanical design for medium-voltage (MV) switchgear.

Skills:

• Experience with Inventor and/or Creo Direct Modeling, Solidworks
• Experience with PLM and/or PDM, eg.Model manager, Enovia, SolidWorksPDM or other tooling applications
• Knowledge of the IEC 62271 series standards.
• Knowledge about Sheet Metal & Machinig & Welding Manufacturing technologies
• Knowledge about Power Distribution and Electrical Infrastructure
• Understanding of mechanical interlocking applications in MV power distribution systems.
• Advanced proficiency in English, with strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Advanced level knowledge of office programs
• Planning and organization, problem solving, ability of persuasion, working for details, analytical thinking
• Ability to work within an international, culturally diverse and matrix based organisation.
