We are looking for a strategic and results-driven Import Manager to lead the import operations across our Group Companies. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving operational excellence, leading change initiatives, and ensuring efficient, compliant, and cost-effective import operations in a dynamic business environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the strategic and operational management of all import activities across the Group Companies while developing team performance and fostering a high-performance culture.
- Manage end-to-end ocean, air, and road freight import operations, ensuring compliance with agreed lead times, cost targets, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor changes in customs legislation and international trade regulations, ensuring timely implementation while proactively managing compliance risks.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customs brokers, logistics service providers, government authorities, and suppliers.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, digitalization, and continuous improvement.
- Establish and monitor import KPIs, analyze operational performance, and provide management with insightful reports and recommendations.
- Ensure the effective use of SAP and other ERP systems to support operational excellence and data accuracy.
- Lead Authorized Economic Operator (AEO / YYS) compliance activities, certification processes, and internal and external audits.
- Manage customs valuation, HS Code (GTIP) classification, rules of origin, Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), import duties, and customs compliance risks.
- Collaborate closely with Internal Audit, Finance, Procurement, Planning, Production, and Warehouse teams to ensure seamless and sustainable supply chain operations.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Lead automation, digital transformation, and continuous improvement initiatives across the import function.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in International Trade, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in import operations, customs, or international logistics, including at least 5 years in a managerial role.
- Proven experience managing import operations within a large-scale manufacturing company or a holding organization.
- In-depth knowledge of Customs Law, Customs Regulations, and international trade legislation.
- Hands-on experience with Authorized Economic Operator (AEO / YYS) compliance, certification, and audit processes.
- Strong expertise in customs valuation, HS Code (GTIP) classification, rules of origin, inward processing regimes, Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), and import duties.
- Proficiency in SAP and other ERP systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with strong analytical, reporting, and data management capabilities.
- Proven experience in KPI management, cost analysis, and performance reporting.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Detail-oriented, highly organized, and process-driven.
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to coach, develop, and motivate teams.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, stakeholder management, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English.
