Job summary

Genesis HealthCare System in Ohio seeks a vigilant Public Safety Officer for the evening shift to protect lives and property across facility grounds. You will patrol, coordinate with Genesis police, and assist with registrations when needed to ensure smooth patient flow.

Key duties include documenting incidents, safeguarding valuables, greeting and guiding patients and visitors, and maintaining HIPAA compliance while serving as a courteous, responsive member of the Genesis team.

Qualifications

• Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
• Must have a valid Ohio driver’s license.
• Must have strong knowledge of security and law enforcement practices.
• Accuracy, attentiveness to detail and time management skills are required.
• Excellent interpersonal, decision-making, facilitation and investigative skills.
• Demonstrated excellence with listening, verbal and written communication.
• Ability to provide outstanding customer service and maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team under pressure in changing environments.
• Must have thorough knowledge of HIPAA confidentiality regulations.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and related software.
• Strong problem solving and quick assessment abilities.
• Ability to document and record information accurately.

Responsibilities

• Patrols facilities and grounds to prevent theft, vandalism and fire.
• Enforces Ohio Revised Code with Genesis police and other jurisdictions.
• Ensure safety of employees, patients and visitors.
• Document all security incidents and assist with restraints of combative patients.
• Handle patient valuables storage and return.
• Greet patients and visitors, determine assistance needs and provide directions.
• Coordinate with staff/volunteers to ensure timely registrations and transport.
• Distribute registration forms, ID bracelets and patient identifications.
• Enter demographic, clinical and financial data into the accounting system.
• Inform patients of liabilities and collect co-pays, deductibles and balances.
• Provide information and required documents to patients.
• Offer directions and assistance to ensure timely service delivery.
• Maintain knowledge of laws and Genesis policies for ethical behavior.
