Job summary

Genesis HealthCare System is seeking a Transport Services associate for the Evening Shift. The role transports patients and materials throughout the facility, using telemetry and EMR input where required. You will support safe patient handling, equipment delivery, and routine recordkeeping.

Overview of Position:

The purpose of this position is to transport patients and material such as charts, specimens, equipment, and supplies efficiently throughout the facility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • 1. Transports patients between ER, nursing units, diagnostic areas, doctors’ suites, morgue, and other areas of the hospital.
  • 2. Transports blood and other specimens on both a STAT and routine basis.
  • 3. Transports patients on portable telemetry equipment and is responsible for monitoring heart rhythms, rates, and identifying arrhythmias.
  • 4. Utilizes communications technology including Vocera and Interactive Voice Recognition for job assignment and completion.
  • 5. Cleans and disinfects carts, stretchers, wheelchairs, and other transport related equipment.
  • 6. Delivers patient equipment, beds, patient supplies, audiovisual equipment, and exchange various gas tanks.
  • 7. Packs, collates, and prepares paperwork along with other recordkeeping tasks.
  • 8. Performs materials management functions, including materials distribution as needed.
  • 9. Maintains safety of the patient and self at all times by following departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
  • 10. Demonstrates awareness and responds to changes in patient condition through applying CPR, calling a code, contacting nursing, etc.
  • 11. Receives instructions and follows through with direction from a Transport Supervisor, clinical staff, or department leadership.
  • 12. Receives training and effectively applies lessons to daily work activities.
  • 13. Enter pertinent patient information into the Electronic Medical Record system for each patient transport.
  • 14. Handles all work-related information in a confidential manner, with a focus on patient confidentiality.
  • 15. Responds to requests in a timely manner, and treats nurses, patients, and other customers with professionalism and compassion.
  • 16. Follows hospital and departmental policies with special attention to safety, dress, attendance, punctuality, and regulatory compliance.
  • 17. Works effectively with team members to meet constantly changing needs and deliver care that is customer oriented and cost effective.
  • 18. Demonstrates initiative and creativity to continuously improve services, departmental and interdepartmental processes, and any other activities that affect quality.
QUALIFICATIONS
