Job summary

Qualifications

• Good English; willingness to travel locally.

Job description

TEKFEN ENGINEERING is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Geotechnical Engineer to join our Istanbul office. In this role, you will play a key part in delivering complex transportation and heavy infrastructure projects. Working alongside a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will be responsible for geotechnical characterization, numerical modeling, foundation design, and technical reporting to deliver safe, innovative, and cost-effective solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret complex geotechnical investigation data, boreholes, and laboratory testing to establish design ground models.
• Perform analytical and numerical calculations for shallow/deep foundations, earth-retaining structures, deep excavations, slope stability, and ground improvement.
• Develop detailed geotechnical design reports, factual submissions, technical specifications, and calculation notes in line with international codes.
• Utilize advanced geotechnical software (e.g., PLAXIS 2D/3D, Rocscience suite) to solve complex soil-structure interaction problems.
• Collaborate closely with structural, transportation and infrastructure disciplines to ensure seamless project integration.
• Participate in technical design reviews, coordination meetings, and discussions with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree (B.Sc.) in Civil Engineering is a must; Master’s Degree (M.Sc.) or continued graduate study in Geotechnical Engineering is strongly preferred.
• 2-5 years of progressive geotechnical engineering experience, preferably within large-scale transportation or infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience with numerical analysis software (e.g., PLAXIS 2D/3D) and slope stability/excavation tools (e.g., Rocscience Slide, RSPile, Dips).
• Solid understanding of soil mechanics, foundation engineering, earthworks, and soil-structure interaction.
• Strong working knowledge of Turkish Standards, Eurocodes, AASHTO, and British Standards.
• TBM/NATM tunnel design experience is a plus.
• Good command of English, both written and spoken.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Flexibility to travel short-term for business meetings, site evaluations, and project-related activities.
