Job summary

TEKFEN ENGINEERING in Istanbul seeks a dedicated Bridge Design Engineer to join our office. You will perform structural analysis, design reinforced concrete structures, develop FEM models, and prepare calculations and drawings.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, ensure compliance with international standards, and travel for site evaluations. Requires 2–5 years of experience and proficiency in SAP2000/MIDAS; knowledge of Turkish standards and English proficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering; Master’s preferred.
• 2–5 years of relevant structural engineering experience in bridge design or heavy civil projects.
• Proven experience with SAP2000 and/or MIDAS or similar software.
• Solid understanding of structural mechanics, RC design, seismic analysis, and foundation-structure interaction.
• Strong knowledge of Turkish Standards, Eurocodes, AASHTO, and British Standards.
• Experience with TKDY 2000 seismic code for bridges is required.
• Experience in bridges, viaducts, tunnels, underground structures, or related transportation structures.
• Knowledge of ETABS, SAFE, or similar software is advantageous.
• Good command of English; strong analytical and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to travel short-term for site evaluations and meetings.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design of reinforced concrete structures for transportation projects.
• Develop structural models and FEM analyzes including static, dynamic, seismic, and construction-stage analyses using SAP2000, MIDAS, or similar software.
• Prepare detailed design calculations, reports, specifications, and drawings.
• Design and analyze bridges, viaducts, tunnels, underground structures, retaining structures, and rail system structures.
• Assess structures under gravity, seismic, wind, thermal, and construction-stage loading.
• Coordinate with geotechnical, transportation, architectural, MEP, and other disciplines.
• Participate in technical design reviews and client discussions.
• Review assumptions, models, calculations, and deliverables for accuracy and compliance.

Job description

TEKFEN ENGINEERING is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Bridge Design Engineer / Structural Engineer to join our Istanbul office. In this role, you will play a key part in delivering complex transportation and heavy infrastructure projects. Working alongside a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will be responsible for structural analysis, design, numerical modeling, and technical reporting to deliver safe, innovative, and cost-effective structural solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design of reinforced concrete structures for transportation and infrastructure projects.
• Develop structural models and finite element models (FEM) and perform static, dynamic, seismic, and construction-stage analyses using SAP2000, MIDAS, or similar structural engineering software.
• Prepare detailed structural design calculations, design reports, calculation notes, technical specifications, and drawings in accordance with applicable international standards and project requirements.
• Design and analyze bridges, viaducts, tunnels, underground structures, retaining structures, rail system structures, and other transportation-related structures.
• Perform structural assessments under gravity, seismic, wind, thermal, construction-stage, and other relevant loading conditions.
• Coordinate structural design activities with geotechnical, transportation, architectural, MEP, and other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless project integration.
• Participate in technical design reviews, interdisciplinary coordination meetings, and discussions with clients, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
• Review design assumptions, structural models, calculations, and technical deliverables to ensure accuracy, constructability, and compliance with relevant codes and standards.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree (B.Sc.) in Civil Engineering is a must; Master’s Degree (M.Sc.) or continued graduate study in Structural Engineering is strongly preferred.
• 2–5 years of professional experience in structural engineering, in bridge design, transportation, infrastructure, or heavy civil engineering projects.
• Proven experience in structural analysis and design using SAP2000 and/or MIDAS or similar structural engineering software.
• Solid understanding of structural mechanics, reinforced concrete design, seismic analysis, foundation-structure interaction, and structural detailing principles.
• Strong working knowledge of Turkish Standards, Eurocodes, AASHTO, and British Standards.
• Experience with Turkish Seismic Design Code for Bridges (TKDY 2000) is a must.
• Experience in the analysis and design of bridges, viaducts, tunnels, underground structures, retaining structures, or other transportation-related structures is required.
• Familiarity with structural modeling, finite element analysis, construction-stage analysis, and seismic design principles.
• Knowledge of ETABS, SAFE, or other structural engineering software is an advantage.
• Good command of English, both written and spoken.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Flexibility to travel short-term for business meetings, site evaluations, and project-related activities.
