Job summary

Genesis HealthCare System in Ohio is seeking OR RNs for General and HLV OR roles to join our surgical services team. This position offers sign-on bonus opportunities, additional pay for BSN, self-scheduling, CAP, and access to free in-house certification programs including BCLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and ASLS.

Typical shifts include full-time, part-time, and PRN with on-call expectations, and the environment emphasizes patient-centered care, infection control, and teamwork across the surgical suite.

Qualifications

• Current Ohio RN License and ADN.
• Current CPR certification, or obtain within 30 days of employment.
• Current ACLS certification, or obtain within one year of employment.
• Ability to read, write and explain or describe moderately complex information to other hospital staff.
• Ability to communicate well in an oral and written manner.
• Ability to read, calculate and prepare medication, as well as the ability to observe and analyze any resulting reactions and to apply clinical knowledge.
• Ability to collect data, interpret findings, set priorities and carry out established plan.
• Demonstrates competence in age‑specific patient care.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care in accordance with physician orders in a warm and friendly manner.
• Takes and records measurements or readings.
• Assesses condition and provides treatment for care of patient.
• Administers prescribed medications.
• Accurately captures all applicable patient charges and submits on appropriate form in a timely manner.
• Demonstrates proper decontamination of instrumentation, re-sterilization and accurate completion of sterilization logs.
• Facilitates cost reduction per procedure by not opening supplies that are not needed.
• Participates in maintaining physician preference cards.
• Accepts on-call schedule and responds to on-call activation within 30 minutes.
• Uses Epic system to enter orders, confirm orders, print reports. May use other computer programs required in area of responsibility.
• May be asked to serve on department specialty focus team.
• Documents implant records completely and accurately. Ensure correct charges are documented.
• Follows Time-Out Policy.
• Leads counts and ensures Count Policy is followed.
• Patient Advocate.
• Hand Off Reporting to recovering nurse.
