Job summary

Jobgether is seeking a Software Engineer to own edge networking and fleet infrastructure in a remote-first setting. You will build scalable scheduling, proxy services, and device management across Windows, Android, and Linux environments, tackling distributed systems challenges with strong ownership and collaboration.

You will design and operate control planes, implement secure networking with mTLS, and contribute to performance and reliability improvements across global deployments.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of professional Rust experience, end-to-end production services.
• Experience designing and operating distributed systems at scale (schedulers, control planes).
• Strong grasp of distributed systems concepts: consistency, partitions, backpressure, idempotency.
• Deep networking knowledge: TCP, TLS, HTTP, handshakes, packet behavior.
• Practical experience with gRPC and long-lived connections across NAT/unreliable networks.
• Experience with forward proxies, proxy gateways, or residential/ISP proxy infra.
• Cross-platform Rust development across Windows, Linux, Android, with FFI boundaries where needed.

Responsibilities

• Scale data plane by evolving command-and-control into a scalable fetch scheduler (50–100M requests/day).
• Build Fleet Manager control plane with adapters, health, config, rollout, metrics to BigQuery.
• Develop provider integrations for onboarding new device sources via standard workflows.
• Own and improve CONNECT proxy gateway, edge session management, IP reputation, proxy leases, and scheduling.
• Engineer secure networking between control services and residential peers using mTLS, gRPC, long-polling.
• Address NAT, CGN, bandwidth accounting, connection reliability, resource contention.
• Define and maintain SLOs for availability, success rate, and latency across Edge route.
• Build observability and operational metrics for peer availability, device drop-off, performance.
• Implement safe blue/green deployments and rollouts for services and edge peers.
• Participate in on-call rotation and post-mortems to drive improvements.
• Produce design docs for scheduling, fleet management, failover strategies.
• Review designs and promote distributed-systems best practices (backpressure, idempotency).
