Job summary

Genesis HealthCare System seeks a Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform, evaluate and report results on blood and body fluid specimens. You will ensure specimen integrity and quality control across testing workflows.

The role requires MLS certification or registry eligibility, a bachelor’s degree, and strong communication skills to support internal/external customers while upholding rigorous confidentiality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• MLS (ASCP) or equivalent certification or registry eligibility.
• Two years’ experience as MLS/MLT or equivalent path required.
• Entry-level clinical lab experience acceptable via student rotations.
• Excellent interpersonal, decision-making and investigative skills.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication and ability to maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Perform, evaluate and submit results on blood and body fluid specimens.
• Maintain specimen integrity according to test requirements.
• Troubleshoot instrument performance and monitor quality control.
• Keep accurate records and report test information via LIS.
• Assist in phlebotomy or related duties as needed.
• Follow CAP, HFAP, OSHA and HIPAA guidelines.
• Provide outstanding customer service to internal and external customers.
