Job summary

Genesis HealthCare System is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to perform, evaluate and report results from blood and body fluid specimens in the Lab - Chemistry department. The role requires solid knowledge of laboratory tests, accurate reporting, and adherence to safety and confidentiality standards.

The position involves varied shifts and a 40-hour work week. The MLT will support equipment maintenance, QC procedures, and may assist in other lab areas as needed while upholding Genesis

Qualifications

• Associates degree is required.
• Completion of an accredited MLT program, MLT (ASCP) or equivalent or registry eligible.
• Entry-level experience in a clinical laboratory, including possible hospital-based student rotation.
• Strong interpersonal, decision-making and investigative skills.
• Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to deliver outstanding customer service and maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision under pressure in a changing environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintains knowledge of laboratory tests and processes; ensures specimen integrity per test requirements.
• Troubleshoots instrument performance and supports quality control.
• Maintains accurate records and releases test information via LIMS.
• May assist in phlebotomy, CPA, and telecommunications as needed.
• Ensures compliance with CAP, HFAP, OSHA, and HIPAA regulations.
• Maintains professionalism and patient confidentiality at all times.
• Delivers outstanding customer service to internal and external customers.
• Performs other assigned duties.
