Job summary

Mavi, a global lifestyle brand founded in Istanbul, seeks a Buying Supervisor to drive supplier development and manage the buying process within Global Sourcing & Supply Chain. The role blends market research, supplier evaluation, and close collaboration with design and production teams.

Ideal candidates have a textile/engineering background, 6+ years in production or textile purchasing, and strong leadership with excellent English skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Textile Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Business Administration.
• Proven experience in production and/or textile purchasing processes at senior level.
• Advanced proficiency in English (written and spoken).

Responsibilities

• Support product development by researching new production techniques.
• Conduct market research to expand supplier portfolio and assess new vendors.
• Explain Mavi’s standards to new manufacturers and monitor their adaptation.
• Coordinate collection planning with fabric and design teams early in the process.
• Select manufacturers for each product and ensure samples with pricing are ready for meetings.
• Negotiate prices and delivery dates after catalog finalization.
• Pass agreed prices, dates, and samples to Production Follow-up Teams.
• Ensure production processes run as planned through CPS monitoring and lead the teams.

Here’s what you need to know:

We are looking for an "Buying Supervisor" who will work under the in our Global Sourcing & Supply Chain department, within Buying team.

What will be expected of you in this role?

• To support product development by researching new production techniques and informing relevant departments about technological advancements,
• To conduct market research in line with brand needs in order to expand the manufacturer portfolio, meet with new potential suppliers, assess their suitability, and share the findings with the supervisor,
• To share Mavi’s working procedures with new manufacturers, ensure they follow Mavi’s standards and expectations, closely follow their adaptation process, and provide support where needed,
• At the beginning of the collection process, to work closely with the fabric and design departments to ensure proper planning of the collection, guide manufacturers to minimize pricing issues, potential risks, and production-related challenges, and initiate collection development,
• To determine the manufacturers for each product, ensure that samples are prepared with accurate pricing and on time for pre-merch and catalog finalization meetings in line with the calendar, ensure the accuracy of samples, and attend collection meetings with expected quality samples,
• Following the catalog finalization meeting, to negotiate prices and delivery dates with manufacturers, and finalize the order placement process with open cost data,
• To hand over the agreed product prices, delivery dates, and approved samples to the Production Follow-up Teams,
• To ensure that the production processes are implemented as planned through CPS monitoring and to provide leadership to the production follow-up teams.

Why you?

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields (Textile Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration),
• Minimum 6 years of experience in production and/or textile purchasing processes, with proven experience in a similar senior-level role,
• Advanced proficiency in English (written and spoken),
• Strong skills in cost management, planning, follow-up, and organization,
• Proactive, result-oriented, and a strong team player,
• Demonstrated leadership experience in managing and developing teams.
