Job summary

Lever, Inc. is seeking an Expert Team Lead, SWE based in Turkey to lead a hands-on AI Tutor team focused on high-quality human-generated data for AI model development. You will review, evaluate, and improve technical work, while setting quality standards and scaling processes.

You will work closely with data and engineering stakeholders to translate model requirements into effective labeling and evaluation strategies, in a fast-paced, autonomous environment built for challenging problems.

Qualifications

• Hands-on data labeling, annotation, AI training or evaluation experience.
• Experience building scalable, high-performance software apps.
• Understanding of data quality metrics and annotation workflows.
• Knowledge of AI/ML concepts and their impact on model performance.
• People management, coaching, and performance development experience.
• Experience leading small teams in data labeling or related ops.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in fast-moving environments.
• Strong analytical skills; KPI-driven improvement; SQL is a plus.
• Experience with distributed teams and remote arrangements.
• Excellent communication, organization, and detail orientation.
• Ability to think strategically while hands-on in execution.
• Expertise in at least one domain like finance, STEM or software engineering.
• Passion for building high-performing teams and scalable data operations.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end quality and delivery for data projects, reviewing work for accuracy and consistency.
• Lead and coach AI Tutors; conduct performance reviews and development plans.
• Participate in labeling, annotation, evaluation to maintain high standards.
• Establish QA processes, taxonomy standards, guidelines, and evaluation criteria.
• Monitor KPIs like quality scores and throughput to improve efficiency.
• Develop training materials and certification benchmarks; manage workforce changes.
• Collaborate with data managers and engineers to translate model needs into processes.
• Foster a high-performance culture with coaching and accountability.
• Document outcomes and communicate status, risks, and results to stakeholders.
• Represent AI Tutor needs and collaborate with the broader data org.
