Job summary

Akila Global Pte Ltd in Singapore is seeking an experienced Welder to support our ongoing engineering, fabrication, maintenance, and project works in Singapore.

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out welding works, welding preparation, joint fitting, inspection, repair, and finishing according to approved welding procedures, drawings, specifications, and project requirements at customer sites.

Qualifications

• Nitec or higher in welding, metal fabrication or related field is advantageous.
• Relevant welding qualifications will be considered.
• Candidates without formal qualifications may be considered based on welding experience and certifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform ARC, MAG welding according to project requirements.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, welding symbols, and procedures.
• Prepare, clean, fit, align, and secure materials before welding.
• Carry out welding using appropriate processes, equipment, and consumables.
• Weld on pipes, plates, and structures and ensure joints meet specs.
• Set up welding machines and maintain safe working conditions.
• Check joints for defects and carry out repairs if needed.
• Maintain welding parameters and follow Welding Procedure Specifications.

About the Role

Akila Global Pte Ltd is seeking an experienced and skilled Welder to support our ongoing engineering, fabrication, maintenance, and project worksin Singapore. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out weldingworks, welding preparation, joint fitting, inspection, repair, and finishing according to approved welding procedures, drawings, specifications, and projectrequirements. Candidates should have good practical welding skills and be able to workindependently at customer and project sites while maintaining high standards of welding quality, safety, and productivity.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform ARC , MAG welding works , particularly vertical-up welding, according to project requirements.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, welding symbols, specifications, and welding procedures .
• Prepare, clean, fit, align, and secure materials before welding.
• Carry out welding using appropriate welding processes, equipment, and consumables.
• Perform welding on pipes, plates, structures, equipment, or other components as required.
• Set up and operate welding machines and related equipment safely.
• Check welding joints for defects such as cracks, porosity, undercut, lack of fusion, and other imperfections.
• Carry out welding repairs and rectification when required.
• Maintain proper welding parameters and follow approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) .
• Ensure completed welding works meet project quality and inspection requirements.
• Work closely with fitters, supervisors, engineers, inspectors, and other site personnel.
• Maintain welding equipment, tools, and work areas in good condition.
• Follow all company and customer WSH and safety requirements .
• Use appropriate PPE and follow safe work procedures at all times.
• Complete required work records and documentation.
• Carry out other welding and fabrication duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education

Nitec / Higher Nitec / Technical Certificate / Diploma in Welding, Metal Fabrication, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field will be an advantage.

Relevant technical or vocational welding qualifications will be considered.

Candidates without formal technical qualifications may be considered based on relevant welding experience and valid certifications.

Skills & Other Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience in 3G welding , particularly vertical-up welding.
• Able to read and understand engineering drawings and welding symbols .
• Familiar with welding procedures, welding consumables, and basic welding parameters.
• Able to prepare and fit materials before welding.
• Able to identify common welding defects and carry out necessary repairs.
• Good knowledge of welding tools, machines, and safety equipment.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Physically fit and comfortable working in industrial environments.
• Willing to work at different customer/project sites across Singapore.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality.

Preferred Experience

• 2-5 years or more of relevant experience as a Welder, 3G Welder, Pipe Welder, Structural Welder, or similar position.
• Proven hands-on experience with 3G welding / vertical-up welding .
• Experience with SMAW (ARC), GTAW (TIG), GMAW (MIG/MAG) or other relevant welding processes will be an advantage.
• Experience welding carbon steel, stainless steel, or other industrial materials will be preferred.
• Experience in process plants, oil & gas, petrochemical, marine, construction, fabrication, or industrial engineering projects will be an advantage.
• Experience working according to WPS, drawings, specifications, and quality requirements .
• Experience in shutdown, turnaround, maintenance, fabrication, or project works will be preferred.
• Candidates with relevant welder qualification/certification and 3G welding certification will be preferred.

Certifications

• Other recognized welding or technical certifications
