Job summary

Ambition is seeking a Senior Linux Platform Operations Engineer to own large-scale Linux environments in a production setting. You will focus on operational ownership, incident management, and platform reliability while driving automation and continuous improvement.

The role requires hands-on leadership in production support, change management, and cross-team collaboration to ensure high availability of mission-critical systems.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of Linux systems administration in large-scale 24x7 environments.
• Deep expertise in Linux OS administration, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and kernel fundamentals.
• Experience with configuration management tools such as Salt, Puppet or Ansible.
• Proficiency in Python and Shell scripting for automation.
• Experience with bare-metal servers and enterprise storage (SAN, NAS, RAID, NVMe).
• Hands-on experience with Grafana and Prometheus for monitoring.
• Familiarity with AWS, GCP, Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code and DevOps tooling (Terraform, Git, CI/CD).
• Strong problem-solving skills for high-severity incidents.

Responsibilities

• Own the operational health, availability, and performance of Linux infrastructure across production and non-production environments.
• Lead weekend maintenance, system upgrades, patching, failover testing, and recovery exercises.
• Serve as the senior escalation point for Linux-related incidents, guiding triage and root-cause analysis.
• Administer and maintain bare-metal Linux servers, storage systems, and configuration management platforms.
• Execute and monitor production changes following change management processes.
• Develop and maintain operational automation using Python and Shell scripting.
• Support monitoring, observability, and capacity management through dashboards and analysis.
• Create and maintain runbooks, SOPs, and recovery documentation.
• Collaborate with Engineering, SRE, Security, and Infra teams to improve reliability.
