Job summary
Singlife is seeking a Lead Engineer to perform analysis, rectification, development and governance for applications components, accountable for maintenance, code quality and compliance with platform standards.
You will drive design for digital/back-office platforms, implement automated testing, mentor engineers, and ensure security, performance and best practices while collaborating with vendors and business users.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of API services experience.
- Minimum 5 years of Java framework experience.
- Minimum 5 years of FI experience.
- Experience leading a team of 10+ engineers.
- Experience with AWS and container technologies.
- Experience with vendor relationship management.
- Familiarity with React frontend.

Responsibilities
- Hands-on engineering: own high-risk components and review MR.
- Design and Architecture: system low-level design and infra responsibility.
- Leadership: mentor engineers, enforce coding standards, guide design.
- Delivery Ownership: estimate work, define scope in sprints/releases, manage dependencies.
- Operations: provide L2 support, incident analysis, vulnerability fixes.

The Lead Engineer performs analysis, rectification, development and technical governance for applications components and will be accountable for the maintenance, quality of code, and compliance to standards within the platform. Accountabilities include but not limited to:
- Analysis, development, implementation & support of
- Digital and back-office FI related platforms (e.g digital channel, back office / admin).
- Automated unit testing of the deliverable
- Any other form of integration
- In accordance of agreed digital/platform strategy, standards and governance for a business unit, project, program, platform or feature team
- Defining technical specifications of solutions in accordance with the agreed digital/platform strategy incorporating non functional requirement such as, security, and system performance and Engineering best practices
- Driving continuous improvement through technical and process innovation to optimize the way we deliver to our customers, promoting ways to leverage business benefit at every opportunity
- Hands-on engineering: own high risk components, review MR
- Design and Architecture:
- Responsible for system low level design including infrastructure
- Ensure non functional requirements are fulfilled: scalability, availability, security, performance, resilience
- Leadership:
- Mentor senior & junior engineers
- Provide regular feedback for improvement
- Ensure coding standard & best practices are implemented
- Guide team on design implementation
- Delivery Ownership:
- High Level Estimation
- Responsible for technical scope in every sprint / releases
- Manage Technical Dependency
- Responsible to ensure technical debt are manage within risk tolerance
- Working with PO & Business users & vendor
- Operations:
- Provide support for L2 in areas such as: Incident Management, Root Cause Analysis
- Manage & Rectify vulnerability / cybersecurity related fixes
- Ensure proper logging / monitoring and alert for every deliverable
- Problem Solving:
- Accountable for solving problems and dealing with difficulties in line with policy, process and other guidelines applying technical knowledge and expertise
- Depending on the nature of the specific role, problems can range from repetitive daily issues to complex technical problems requiring significant expertise
- Escalate problems according to guidelines
- Provide technical solutions for deficiencies in process, application configuration and operational procedures
- Resource Complexity:
- Accountable for prioritizing own use of time to deliver the workload expected of the role while working within policy and guidelines and applying technical knowledge
- Understand and proactively involve in programs related to Tech Upgrade, Platform Automation.
- Ensure that delivery is sufficiently well designed to mitigate the risks posed by the changes
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations relating to the above functional activities.
- Minimum 5 years of working experience with API services
- Minimum 5 years of working experience with Java framework
- Minimum 5 years of working experience with FI
- Working experience with front end framework such as react
- Working experience with AWS Cloud with IaC
- Working experience with containers framework (EKS / ECS)
- Working experience to lead a team of more than 10 engineers
- Working experience in vendor relationship management
- Working experience with low code / no code software such as Salesforce is preferred
- Working experience with various Generative AI tools
