Job summary

Singlife is seeking a Senior Engineer to analyze, rectify, develop and govern web and mobile applications, ensuring maintenance and code quality across the platform.

You will design, implement and test microservices with Java, Spring and Hibernate, work with REST APIs, AWS cloud and containers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable solutions for customers.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience with REST API services.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java frameworks (J2EE, Spring, Hibernate, Microservices).
• Minimum 3 years of SQL or relevant query language.
• Experience with microservices framework and containers.
• Working experience with AWS Cloud.
• Full stack experience is a plus (React/React Native or Angular).
• Working experience with any test automation tools is a plus.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Purpose

The Senior Engineer performs analysis, rectification, development and technical governance for web and mobile applications and will be accountable for the maintenance, quality of code, and compliance to standards within the platform. Accountabilities include but not limited to:

• Analysis, Designing, Development & implementation of
• Microservices (Java, Spring, Hibernate)
• Automated unit testing of the deliverable

In accordance with agreed digital/platform strategy, standards and governance for a business unit, project, program, platform or feature team

• Defining technical specifications of solutions in accordance with the agreed digital/platform strategy incorporating service fundamentals, security, and system performance
• Driving continuous improvement through technical and process innovation to optimize the way we deliver to our customers, promoting ways to leverage business benefit at every opportunity

Responsibilities

Nature of Work

• Analysis, Design and Develop the impact of any change for services resulted from external or internal requirements.
• Responsible, Accountable and collaborate with cross functional teams to deliver the components roadmap.
• Technical development of existing programs, analyzing and identifying areas for modification when required, taking into consideration of building security, performance, monitoring and non-functional requirements within solution
• Technical (Unit Testing), Integration & Functional testing
• Confirm that any changes to the Platform are compliant with Singlife architecture standards, or deviations are agreed with the relevant governance authorities
• Propose innovative solutions or alternative approaches
• Identify and implementing Service improvements and applying software upgrades
• Proactive improvements to operational processes within the platform to meet customer expectations and drive efficiencies
• Accountable for Cloud related

Problem Solving

• Accountable for solving problems and dealing with difficulties in line with policy, process and other guidelines applying technical knowledge and expertise
• Depending on the nature of the specific role, problems can range from repetitive daily issues to complex technical problems requiring significant expertise
• Escalate problems according to guidelines
• Provide technical solutions for deficiencies in process, application configuration and operational procedures

Resource Complexity

• Accountable for prioritizing own use of time to deliver the workload expected of the role while working within policy and guidelines and applying technical knowledge
• Understand and proactively involve in programs related to Tech Upgrade, Platform Automation and Cloud Migration program.
• Ensure that delivery is sufficiently well designed to mitigate the risks posed by the changes
• Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations relating to the above functional activities.

Experience

• Minimum 5 years of working experience with Rest API services
• Minimum 5 years of strong hands on working experience with Java frameworks such as (J2EE, Spring, Hibernate, Microservices)
• Minimum 3 years of experience in SQL or relevant query language
• Minimum 3 years of working experience with microservices framework and containers
• Working experience with AWS Cloud
• Full stack experience is a plus, preferably in React/React Native or Angular
• Working experience with any test automation tools is a plus
• Ability to pick up knowledge of the application
• Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills along with effective communication (both written and verbal) skills
• Proactive to propose innovative solutions or alternative approaches to difficult issues

Education Academic

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Degree in Computer Science, IT or related discipline (preferred)
