Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) invites applications for Vessel Traffic Officers to join our VTIS team, ensuring safe and efficient navigation of vessels transiting the Singapore Strait. The role involves communicating with ships on VHF radio and providing timely traffic information.

You will work in a vibrant team on a 3 rotating shift cycle, including weekends and public holidays, with training to develop the necessary maritime operations skills and procedures.

• Willingness to work on 3 rotating shifts across locations in the East and West Singapore.

• Be part of a dynamic VTIS officer team, on a 3 rotating shift, communicating with vessels on VHF to provide traffic information.
• Assist with distress watch keeping and respond to marine incidents as needed.

Using state of the art Vessel Traffic Information System (VTIS), our Vessel Traffic Officers play a vital role in managing busy port traffic for the safe and efficient navigation of vessels transiting through the Singapore Strait.

Using state of the art Vessel Traffic Information System (VTIS), our Vessel Traffic Officers play a vital role in managing busy port traffic for the safe and efficient navigation of vessels transiting through the Singapore Strait.

[What you will be working on]

Be a part of the vibrant and dynamic team of VTIS officers, working on a 3 rotating shift and communicating with vessels on VHF radio to provide traffic information to these vessels. Other duties include distress watch keeping and attending to marine incidents.

[What we are looking for]

Requirements

• Candidate should be able to communicate clearly with the ability to convey clear, precise information
• Strong service orientation with a professional demeanour providing courteous service to port users.
• Able to work on 3 rotating shift, each approximately 8 hours for morning, afternoon & night shift, including weekends and Public Holidays.
• Able to work independently and be comfortable with being rotated to various work locations in the East and West of Singapore.

Training and Development

Successful candidates will undergo a comprehensive traineeship programme designed to equip the necessary skills and knowledge for this crucial role in maritime operations.
