A community support organization in Singapore seeks a dedicated individual to assist in providing life and work skills training for adults with disabilities. The role involves working closely with trainees, developing individualized training plans, and ensuring a safe learning environment. Candidates should possess relevant qualifications and a passion for promoting independence.
A. JOB SCOPE/ KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Summary: Support Senior Training Officers in the provision of life and work skills training for trainees in programme. Support the team to achieve improvement in trainees’ independence, work skills and overall wellbeing.
1. Assist trainees in performing areas of self-care such as feeding, grooming and toileting which including diaper changing and in maintaining good standards of hygiene.
2. Plan and coordinate in the development of therapeutic and training materials for the trainees using a pro-active, collaborative, creative and person-centred approach. The areas of activities and training skills include independent daily living, communication and language, social emotional, community living, social and recreational, and vocational training. To identify trainees that display potential skills for open employment.
3. Assist trainees in developing interventions and managing challenging behaviours with Senior Training Officer, Learning Coach, therapist and Psychologist.
4. Assist in development and implementation of Individual Training Plans (ITP).
5. Assist in maintaining and updating of ITP, training and assessment records of trainees.
6. Assist and carry out regular review and updates to caregivers on care needs and applying their training to trainees’ home setting.
7. Ensure that centre’s rules pertaining to trainees’ safety, well-being, work hazards and prescribed training procedures are adhered to.
8. Carry out proper and regular housekeeping of training space and facilities.
9. Assist and ensure the documentation of the trainees’ progress and daily activities and attendance area recorded.
10. Assist in conducting work process analysis and propose process modification or redesign to continually improve trainees’ vocational skills, productivity and efficiency.
11. Report to Manager on any accident or other incidents during the course of training or carrying out work tasks in Day Activity Centre.
12. Any other duties as and when necessary.
B. JOB HOLDER’S REQUIREMENT
1. Minimum an “O” level/“A” level/ITE certification, preferably with at least 1-2 years of experience in working with persons with disabilities.
2. Relevant experience in the fields of Special Education or Social/Community Services with exposure to youths/adults with disabilities is preferred.
3. Relevant experience in vocational training and coaching is an added advantage.
4. Demonstrate a commitment to and an understanding of social inclusion as well as the values associated with promoting independence.
5. Patient, positive and passionate about working with adults with disabilities.
6. Strong commitment of care toward adults with disabilities and a positive mindset towards their development and growth.
7. Strong interest and experience in life and vocational skills training and/or coaching for adults with disabilities.
8. A self-motivated team player, adaptable and able to multi-task.
9. Good communication and people management skills as well as technical ability.
10. Meticulous and strong observational skills.
