Job summary

Heidelberg Materials Trading, the international trading arm of the Heidelberg Materials Group, seeks a capable Trading Management Trainee or Assistant Trade Manager for its Singapore office. You will support procurement, sales, and market analysis for cementitious dry bulk commodities, while expanding client relationships and collaborating across teams.

You will engage in forecasting, budgeting, and strategic opportunities, with responsibilities spanning cross-border coordination and compliance

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, International Trade, Chemical Engineering, Engineering, or related field.
• Management Trainee: 0–1 years of experience; Assistant Trade Manager: 1–5 years, preferably in dry bulk materials trading.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate procurement and sales for cementitious and dry bulk commodities.
• Expand key accounts and onboard new clients.
• Monitor market developments and provide forecasting inputs.
• Coordinate with Shipping and Documentation to ensure service quality.
• Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and Code of Business Conduct.
• Coordinate with HM Trading offices in other countries.
• Forecast purchase volumes for budgeting and planning.
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities.
• Research trade data and present comprehensive reports.
• Support strategic decisions to improve profitability and market share.
• Share international market insights to aid planning.

Trading Management Trainee / Assistant Trade Manager

Key Responsibilities:

• Facilitating procurement and sales activities related to cementitious and other associated dry bulk commodities for designated markets.
• Key account management – expanding relationships with existing clients and taking ownership of business development initiatives to onboard new clients.
• Collaborating with suppliers and customers to track market developments, assess developing trends and provide inputs for analysis and forecasting.
• Coordinate effectively with cross geographical and cross functional internal teams (Shipping and Documentation) to ensure optimal service quality for external customers.
• Ensuring compliance with the contractual obligations, operating procedures and Code of Business Conduct of HM Trading and other contracted parties.
• Co-ordination with other HM Trading sales offices in other countries.
• Forecasting purchase volumes to enable effective budgeting and planning within the designated trading area.
• Assisting traders in identifying and pursuing new business opportunities.
• Researching and analyzing customs and trade data, providing comprehensive reports.
• Contributing to strategic decisions, profit maximization, and international market share in trading operations.
• Collecting and presenting international market insights to aid management in planning and development.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, International Trade, Chemical Engineering, Engineering, or a related field.
• Management Trainee: 0-1 years of experience in one of the related fields listed above.
• Assistant Trade Manager: 1-5 years of experience, preferably in dry bulk materials trading. A strong understanding of cementitious and other associated dry bulk commodities is highly valued for the Assistant Trade Manager position.
• The level and title of the position (MT/ATM) offered will be determined based on the overall work experience.
• Excellent command of the English language is essential. Any additional language is an asset.
• Self-motivated individual with strong teamwork skills and exceptional communication abilities
• Proven track record of adaptability, solution-oriented mindset, flexibility, and diligence.
• Demonstrated customer-centric approach (internal and external stakeholders).
• Willingness to travel internationally for business needs.
• Exceptional analytical capabilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong negotiation and presentation skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and multicultural environment with the ability to multitask and effectively prioritize tasks
