Job description

Job Title: Temporary Psychologist

Employment Type: 1-Year Contract

Location: Irrawaddy Road

Contract Period: 1 year

Salary: $3,800 to $4,500 per month, depending on qualifications and relevant working experience

Working Hours:

Monday to Thursday: 8.30am to 6.00pm

Friday: 8.30am to 5.30pm

Commencement Date:

No fixed commencement date. The commencement date is subject to onboarding arrangements. The successful candidate is expected to commence as soon as the necessary arrangements are completed.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Psychologist will be tasked with working on research projects aimed at looking into the trends and risk and protective factors related to forensic psychology research such as sexual and violent offending, youth offending and cyber deviance. The research efforts will help inform upstream prevention efforts to curb offending.

Key deliverables may include, but are not limited to:

1. Assisting with the formulation, conduct and analysis of research and surveys on criminal offending, and related attitudes/behaviours.
2. Conducting research and literature reviews to analyse emerging and ongoing trends and patterns in offending.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

Research Projects

• Formulate concept papers by reviewing both international and local literature on offending.
• Formulate research projects and surveys for implementation.
• Support procurement processes for research services.
• Communicate research progress findings in written or oral presentation format to a variety of audiences – e.g. formulate a research paper on the findings and presentation deck for presentations within MHA and external agencies.
• Formulate data requests with sound rationale, seek relevant agencies’ inputs on the data required, analyse data/conduct sense-making to understand the current trends on offending.
• Produce effective research products that cater to different audience types (e.g., infographics, brief reports, technical reports, PowerPoint slides, podcasts, etc.).
• May also be required to embark on other research areas and methods (e.g., focus group discussions, face-to-face interviews, evaluation studies).

Conduct Trainings/Webinars/Seminars

• Develop content based on research findings/sense-making of current data.
• Conduct trainings in the areas to stakeholders.
• Assist to conceptualise and organise dialogue/roundtable sessions with stakeholders.
• Design surveys/feedback forms for events/trainings.

Others

• Support administrative work that is being undertaken by the Home Team Psychology Division.
• Any other tasks as directed by the Chief Psychologist, Director, Deputy Director, and reporting supervisor.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

• Good Honours Degree in Psychology. Candidates with Second Class Upper Honours and above will be prioritised.
• Knowledge of psychometrics and study design methodology.
• Able to create and implement research protocols for data collection, including experiments, surveys, interviews, and focus groups.
• Able to collect and analyse data related to the topic, using appropriate quantitative statistical and qualitative methods.
• Strong research skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) and statistical analysis.
• Adequate writing and communication skills.
• Strong task and time management skills.
• Able to develop training materials catering to a specific audience.
• Able to work well in diverse teams, within HTPD as well as with external agencies.
