Job summary

Kok Tong Construction Pte Ltd is seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead the technical team across civil and structural design works in Singapore. The role involves coordinating with consultants, reviewing shop drawings, and ensuring compliance with contract requirements to deliver high-quality project deliverables.

You will drive design approvals with authorities like URA, BCA, LTA, and PUB, manage risk, and work closely with the BIM team to resolve technical clarifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering recognized by the Professional Engineering Board.
• Minimum 12 years of design experience (or 7 years of design management with at least 5 years of design experience).

Responsibilities

• Shadows Senior Technical Manager and/or Technical Director as required.
• Leads the technical team to support design matters including shop drawings review and production.
• Reviews all technical documentation and drawings of the Project works.
• Works with Consultants and construction team to enhance site efficiency and constructability.
• Leads design approvals from authorities including URA, BCA, LTA, PUB for the Project works.
• Manages design approval process to resolve technical issues.
• Ensures design compliance with contractual requirements.
• Distributes all approved drawings and relevant documents to parties.
• Leads the team to coordinate with in-house BIM and resolves clarifications on requirements.
• Identifies risks or issues impacting project performance and alerts management.
• Prepares and presents design progress status to management, project team, and clients.
• Coordinates with Architectural, MEP, BIM disciplines to deliver high-quality outcomes.
• Supports tender team and prepares technical tender documents for bidding.
• Attends Progress, Technical, Coordination, and Site Meetings.

Job description

Job Responsibilities:

• Shadows Senior Technical Manager and/or Technical Director as and when required.
• Leads the technical team to support construction team for all design matters including shop drawings review and production
• Reviews all technical documentation and drawings of the Project works
• Works closely with the appointed Consultants and construction team on designs and project deliverables to enhance site efficiency and constructability
• Leads on the design approval from the Authority/Agency including URA,BCA,LTA,PUB etc for the Project works
• Manages design approval process in a timely manner to resolve all technical issues
• Ensures strict compliance of the design in accordance with the contractual requirements
• Ensures the distribution of all the approved and latest drawings and other relevant documents to the relevant parties
• Leads the technical team to work closely with in-house BIM team and resolves all clarifications on technical requirements pertaining to the Project works
• Identifies and highlights to Management and project team of any potential risks or issues that will impact Project performance
• Prepares and presents design progress status and slides to Management, project team and Client as and when required.
• Strong coordination and collaboration with other disciplines (i.e Architectural, MEP, BIM etc.) on design to ensure delivery of high quality outcome
• Supports tender team and prepares technical tender documents as per specifications for bidding of civil and structural engineering projects as and when assigned
• Attends Progress Meeting, Technical Meetings, Coordination Meetings, Site Meetings, etc.

Job Requirements:

• Candidate must possesses Bachelor\'s Degree in Civil Engineering recognized by the Professional Engineering Board
• Minimum 12 years of Design Experience (or 7 years of Design Management with at least 5 year of Design Experience)
