Busser express in Singapore is seeking an experienced Tandoori Chef to lead the tandoori section and deliver authentic Indian dishes with consistency. You will train junior staff, maintain strict food safety and quality standards, collaborate with the kitchen team, and support menu development in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.

This full-time, on-site role requires flexibility for evenings, weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of professional tandoori chef experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of tandoori techniques and spices.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook a variety of tandoori dishes using traditional techniques.
  • Operate and maintain the tandoor oven and cooking equipment.
  • Ensure dishes meet quality, taste, temperature, and presentation standards.
  • Manage food storage, stock rotation and inventory for the tandoori section.
  • Maintain strict food hygiene, safety and sanitation protocols.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth service at peak times.
  • Mentor junior kitchen staff on tandoori techniques.
  • Monitor food costs and contribute to waste reduction.
  • Respond to customer feedback and adjust dishes accordingly.
  • Assist with menu development and introduce new tandoori specialties.

About the role

We seeking an experienced Tandoori Chef and Pakistani crusine to join our culinary team on a full-time basis in the Eunos Central Region. This is a key position within our kitchen operation where you will be responsible for preparing authentic tandoori dishes and grilled specialities that form a central part of our menu offerings. As a Tandoori Chef, you will play a vital role in maintaining our high standards of food quality, presentation and consistency, whilst ensuring every dish that leaves our kitchen reflects our commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities
  • Preparing and cooking a variety of tandoori dishes using traditional techniques and authentic recipes
  • Operating and maintaining the tandoor oven and associated cooking equipment to the highest standards
  • Ensuring all dishes meet our quality standards for taste, temperature, presentation and portion control
  • Managing food storage, stock rotation and inventory of ingredients within the tandoori section
  • Maintaining strict adherence to food hygiene, safety and sanitation protocols at all times
  • Collaborating with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth service during peak periods
  • Training and mentoring junior kitchen staff on tandoori cooking techniques and best practices
  • Monitoring food costs and contributing to waste reduction initiatives
  • Responding promptly to customer feedback and making necessary adjustments to dishes
  • Assisting with menu development and suggesting new tandoori specialities
What we're looking for
  • Minimum 3-5 years of professional experience working as a Tandoori Chef in a busy restaurant or hospitality establishment
  • Extensive knowledge of tandoori cooking techniques, spice combinations and traditional Indian cooking methods
  • Proficiency in operating and maintaining tandoor ovens and understanding of temperature control for various dishes
  • Strong culinary skills with the ability to prepare consistent, high-quality dishes that meet customer expectations
  • Excellent time management and the ability to work efficiently during peak service periods
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food safety regulations, hygiene standards and kitchen protocols
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team whilst also being capable of working independently
  • Strong communication skills and a willingness to mentor and support junior staff
  • Flexibility with working hours, including evenings, weekends and public holidays as required
  • Relevant culinary qualifications or certifications in food preparation and safety would be advantageous
