Tandoor Lounge is seeking a Kitchen Assistant in Singapore to support our chefs with daily food preparation, kitchen cleanliness and stock handling. No formal chef training required—we train you on our recipes and methods; reliability, neat work and pace are valued in a busy service.
You will wash and prep ingredients, assist with plating and packing takeaway orders, and help maintain a hygienic kitchen in line with safety standards. Prior restaurant experience is a plus.
We're looking for a Kitchen Assistant to support our chefs with food preparation, kitchen cleanliness and day-to-day stock handling. You don't need to be a trained chef — we'll train you on our recipes and methods. What matters is that you're reliable, work clean, and can keep pace during a busy service.
Wash, peel, cut and portion vegetables, meat and seafood to the chef's specifications
Prepare basic items such as marinades, masala pastes, rice, raita, chutneys and salads under supervision
Weigh and portion ingredients for biryanis, curries and tandoor items
Assist with plating and packing takeaway and delivery orders accurately
Set up workstations before service and clear them down after
Operate and clean kitchen equipment — tandoor, grinders, mixers, rice cookers, fryers and chillers
Keep the kitchen, storage areas and equipment clean and hygienic throughout the shift
Wash dishes, pots and utensils, and manage kitchen waste and recycling
Receive deliveries, check quantities and quality against orders, and store items correctly
Follow SFA food safety and hygiene requirements at all times
Legally able to work in Singapore (Singaporean, Permanent Resident)
Physically fit — able to stand for long periods, lift up to 20kg and work in a hot kitchen
Willing to work weekends, public holidays and split shifts on a roster
Basic spoken English or Tamil/Hindi; able to follow instructions and work in a team
Clean, punctual and dependable
Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, canteen or catering kitchen (nice to have)
Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (WSQ Food Safety Course Level 1) (nice to have)
Familiarity with Indian ingredients and cooking methods (nice to have)
Staff meals provided on every shift
CPF contributions and annual leave as per MOM guidelines
Medical leave and coverage as per Employment Act
Training in Indian cuisine, with a clear path to Commis Chef for the right person
Tandoor Lounge is a North and South Indian restaurant at The Punggol Settlement, known for our dum biryanis, tandoor grills and curries. We cook fresh daily for dine-in, takeaway and delivery, and we run a busy kitchen especially over weekends.
