Job summary

BANK OF CHINA LIMITED seeks an experienced IT infrastructure professional to operate, maintain, and secure bank-wide server and storage hardware, and to administer Windows and Linux systems. The role includes middleware and database platform support, incident management, and on-call 7×24 production coverage.

You will also handle change management, documentation, audits, and collaboration with global teams on IT operations and regulatory compliance. Fluency in English and Chinese is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in system administration or infrastructure operations, preferably within a banking, financial services, or large-scale enterprise environment.
• Strong sense of ownership, risk awareness, and the ability to operate in a highly regulated production environment.
• Experience with server and storage hardware, Windows and Linux system administration.
• Experience in middleware and database platform support.
• Working knowledge of virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V) and VDI (e.g. Horizon View).
• Experience with enterprise backup systems, capacity management, and system health checks.
• Familiarity with incident handling, RCA, change management, and basic automation or scripting.
• Professional written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chinese, as the role requires regular communication and coordination with Chinese-speaking counterparts at the Bank’s Head Office on IT operations, technical issues and related matters.
• Strong adherence to operational procedures, documentation standards, and audit requirements in a regulated environment.
• Awareness of system security controls, privileged access management, vulnerability management, and operational logging practices.
• Ability to work accurately under pressure while minimizing operational and compliance risks.
• Strong communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external vendors.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and committed to continuous learning and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Perform operations and maintenance of server and storage hardware, including installation, configuration, health monitoring, fault handling, firmware upgrades, and lifecycle management.
• Administer and maintain Windows and Linux operating systems, ensuring system availability, performance, stability, and compliance with security baselines.
• Perform platform-level administration of middleware and database systems, including installation, configuration, standardization, routine maintenance, monitoring, and patching, and coordinate with application teams to support system connectivity and integration requirements.
• Perform basic Database administrator role for Oracle, SQL Server and MySql, such as installation, patching and fine tuning etc. proactive remediation activities.
• Respond to infrastructure-related incidents and service degradation, perform incident investigation and root cause analysis (RCA), and track corrective and preventive actions to closure.
• Participate in system and platform changes, upgrades, and patching activities, strictly following change management, approval, implementation, and rollback procedures.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, configuration standards, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and emergency response plans, ensuring operational readiness and audit compliance.
• Support internal audits, regulatory inspections, and compliance reviews by providing system operation records, configuration evidence, patching status, and technical documentation.
• Participate in on-call rotation and provide 7×24 production support as required
