Job summary

BANK OF CHINA LIMITED is seeking a skilled IT Infrastructure Administrator in Singapore to operate and maintain server/storage hardware and administer Windows and Linux systems. The role covers middleware and database support, basic DBA tasks, and incident handling in a regulated environment.

You will participate in change management, document procedures, support audits, and provide 7x24 production support as needed. Strong English and Chinese communication is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years in system administration or infrastructure operations in a regulated environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain server and storage hardware, including installation, configuration, and lifecycle management.
• Administer Windows and Linux OS for availability, performance, and security baselines.
• Manage platform middleware and database systems, including patching and monitoring.
• Perform basic DBA tasks for Oracle, SQL Server and MySQL, including installation and tuning.
• Respond to incidents, perform RCA, and track corrective actions to closure.
• Follow change management and rollback procedures for system updates.
• Develop and maintain architecture diagrams, SOPs, and audit-ready documentation.
• Support audits, regulatory inspections, and evidence requests.
• Participate in 24x7 on-call production support as required.

Job Description

1. Perform operations and maintenance of server and storage hardware, including installation, configuration, health monitoring, fault handling, firmware upgrades, and lifecycle management.
2. Administer and maintain Windows and Linux operating systems, ensuring system availability, performance, stability, and compliance with security baselines.
3. Perform platform-level administration of middleware and database systems, including installation, configuration, standardization, routine maintenance, monitoring, and patching, and coordinate with application teams to support system connectivity and integration requirements.
4. Perform basic Database administrator role for Oracle, SQL Server and MySql, such as installation, patching and fine tuning etc. proactive remediation activities.
5. Respond to infrastructure-related incidents and service degradation, perform incident investigation and root cause analysis (RCA), and track corrective and preventive actions to closure.
6. Participate in system and platform changes, upgrades, and patching activities, strictly following change management, approval, implementation, and rollback procedures.
7. Develop and maintain technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, configuration standards, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and emergency response plans, ensuring operational readiness and audit compliance.
8. Support internal audits, regulatory inspections, and compliance reviews by providing system operation records, configuration evidence, patching status, and technical documentation.
9. Participate in on-call rotation and provide 7×24 production support as required.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in system administration or infrastructure operations, preferably within a banking, financial services, or large-scale enterprise environment.
• Strong sense of ownership, risk awareness, and the ability to operate in a highly regulated production environment.
• Experience with server and storage hardware, Windows and Linux system administration.
• Experience in middleware and database platform support.
• Working knowledge of virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V) and VDI (e.g. Horizon View).
• Experience with enterprise backup systems, capacity management, and system health checks.
• Familiarity with incident handling, RCA, change management, and basic automation or scripting.
• Professional written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chinese, as the role requires regular communication and coordination with Chinese-speaking counterparts at the Bank’s Head Office on IT operations, technical issues and related matters.

• Strong adherence to operational procedures, documentation standards, and audit requirements in a regulated environment.
• Awareness of system security controls, privileged access management, vulnerability management, and operational logging practices.
• Ability to work accurately under pressure while minimizing operational and compliance risks.

• Strong communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external vendors.
