As a Syscon Operation, works in a 24/7 Network Operations Centre (NOC) to monitor, maintain, and support mission-critical network and system operations. The role is responsible for fault detection and resolution, configuration changes, system administration, performance tracking, and enforcing network security. It includes coordination with maintenance agencies, handling user queries, preparing reports, supporting major events, and managing end-user equipment. The operator provides Level 1 application support and escalates issues when necessary. This role requires strong teamwork, the ability to perform rotating shift work, and resilience under pressure, with experience in network, system, security, or data centre operations being an advantage.

What will you do?
Fault Management
  • Monitor and respond to network fault alarms
  • Identify and troubleshoot network failures
  • Escalate unresolved issues to the Maintenance Agency (MA)
  • Liaise with MA for fault isolation and rectification
  • Provide interim updates to users
  • Document faults and resolution actions
  • Perform daily system health checks
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on sub-systems and equipment
Configuration Management
  • Perform network reconfiguration for operational changes
  • Configure new services that do not require hardware changes
Administration & User Communication
  • Handle calls from end-users for fault reporting and consultation
  • Inform users about outages, maintenance, testing, and password changes
  • Coordinate access with building owners
  • Provide monthly system status updates and ad-hoc reports
Performance Management
  • Collect, compile, and analyse network performance statistics
  • Track sub-system performance and MA’s response/turnaround times
Security Management
  • Monitor systems for unauthorised access and investigate incidents
  • Desensitise system terminal equipment
  • Reload terminal software
  • Assist in tracking lost user terminals
General Support
  • Assist with log retrieval
  • Support onsite monitoring during major events
  • Help report and terminate services for missing end-user terminals
User Equipment (UE) Management
  • Verify failures in reported equipment
  • Ensure data removal and proper software/content management
  • Update or restore firmware and software
  • Perform remote wipe on faulty equipment
  • Consolidate and update repaired equipment before returning to users
Application Management
  • Provide Level 1 software and application troubleshooting
  • Escalate issues to application vendors for Level 2 support
General
  • Required to perform 12 hours rotating shift work in teams, for 7 days a week and 24 hours a day, inclusive of Sundays and Public Holidays. Standby duties are also required.
  • Required to work on users’ site(s).

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • Strong knowledge in network operations, fault management, and system monitoring
  • Experience working in a 24/7 NOC or control centre environment
  • Ability to troubleshoot network, system, and security issues effectively
  • Good communication skills and the ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work under pressure during outages or emergencies
  • Team player with strong problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge in networking such as L2/L3 switches, network design, CCNA, CCNP (Good to have)
  • Knowledge in systems such as VMware, Nutanix, MS AD, MS servers, tape backup, Hyper-V (Good to have)
  • Knowledge in security tools and frameworks such as Cisco, VPN, Symantec, RSA, CA, Palo Alto, IM8, ISM, CISSP (Good to have)
  • Familiarity with DC operations including Splunk, SolarWinds, and operational processes (Good to have)
