Working hours:
School Term
- Monday to Friday: 7:30am to 5.00pm, inclusive of a 30-minute lunch break, resulting in 9 hours of service per day, except as follows:
- The Student Support Officer's ending time on the 2 detention days will be 6:00pm.
Working hours may vary according to the school’s needs and requirements. Service is not required on Saturdays, Sundays and gazetted public holidays and in the months of November and December.
Scope of Services
- Discipline Management: Support daily discipline operations, including managing latecomers, managing detention / suspensions, conducting walk abouts within school compound and surrounding neighbourhood areas.
- Case Management: Conduct investigations into incidents, follow up with students and parent engagement
- Student Guidance & Mentoring: Guide and mentor students with disciplinary issues. Monitor and track progress of identified students towards the school’s desired outcomes.
- Record-Keeping and Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely records of student interactions, disciplinary cases, investigation findings and progress updates in accordance with school protocols, including the use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel) for incident reports and case documentation.
- Safeguarding and Emergency Protocols: Follow the school's safeguarding and emergency protocols and escalte concerns regarding student safety or well-being to the appropriate school personnel in a timely manner.
- Confidentiality and Data Protection: Handle all student and family information with strict confidentiality and in compliance with relevant data protection obligations, including the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) and the school's data management policies. Personnel shall not disclose any student or family information to unauthorised parties
- Adhoc Duties: Perform any other student management or school operation duties as assigned by the school management
Qualifications, skills and experience
- (a) It is preferred to have relevant qualifications or certifications in youth work or related fields.
- (b) Must have a minimum of 1 year of working experience indiscipline management, case management, or behaviour support involving youths
- (c) Possesses good communication and interpersonal skills with youths and adults.
- (d) Possesses effective strategies to guide and mentor students with disciplinary issues, e.g. experience with applying restorative practices or structured behaviour management frameworks.
- (e) Demonstrates emotional resilience and cultural sensitivity, with the ability to manage high-pressure situations professionally and engage students and parents from diverse backgrounds in a fair and culturally respectful manner.
