Job summary

A leading healthcare provider in Singapore seeks a dedicated Staff Nurse to assist mothers with breastfeeding and educate parents on childcare. The role demands a registered nurse with at least 2 years of experience in maternity care. Ideal candidates will also hold certifications in lactation consulting. A 5-day work week is required, with rostered weekend and public holiday duties.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of post-graduate experience in a maternity setting.
  • Experience in lactation support is preferable.
  • Knowledge of alternative feeding methods during infant feeding.

Responsibilities

Job description
JOB SUMMARY

The Staff Nurse assists and supports mothers in breastfeeding. The role includes maintaining breastfeeding standards and ensuring adherence to the hospital's quality systems and procedures.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provides supervision and advice for all breastfeeding mothers, including inpatients and outpatients
  • Offers breastfeeding consultation for antenatal mothers
  • Teaches parenting skills to parents of newborns
  • Conducts postnatal parentcraft education for maternity patients
  • Conducts phone or video counseling for those seeking advice on breastfeeding and childcare
  • Maintains accurate documentation for all consultation and education programs
  • Familiar with alternative feeding methods such as cup feeding, syringe feeding, and Nursing supplemental system during the early stages of infant feeding if milk supply does not meet the baby's needs
  • Manages medical emergencies for newborns
  • Keeps abreast of current research, trends, and pedagogical practices in Parentcraft education programs.
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse with Singapore Nursing Board
  • Preferably with Certificate in Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and Advanced Diploma in Midwifery
  • At least 2 years of post-graduate experience in a maternity setting and/or 2 years of related lactation experience
  • Ability to multitask, adapt and react in a fast-paced working environment
  • 5 days work week (rostered to work on weekends & PH)
