Job summary

Novena Bladeless Cataract Surgery & Eye Specialist Centre in Novena, Singapore, is seeking a full-time on-site Staff Nurse to support ophthalmic surgeons in the operating room and clinic. The role covers pre-operative assessment, intra-operative scrub nurse duties, post-operative monitoring and patient education, with additional non-surgical clinic duties on days without procedures.

Job description

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Clinic and Day Surgery Staff Nurse role based at Novena Bladeless Cataract Surgery & Eye Specialist Centre in Royal Square Novena, Singapore. You will support ophthalmic (Eye) surgeons in operating rooms, including preparing surgical suites, instruments, and supplies, and ensuring adherence to infection control protocols. Responsibilities include pre-operative assessment, patient preparation, intra-operative scrub nurse assistance to doctors, and post-operative monitoring and education. You will also participate in over-the-clinic counter patient-centered eye care on days when there is no surgery.

Qualifications

Candidates with or without Operating Room and Surgery skills are welcomed to apply as training will be provided.

Fresh graduates are welcomed to apply as operating theater skills will be taught. We will train strong communication and teamwork skills, safety and infection control standards.

Valid SNB nursing license is essential.

Advanced Diploma in Peri-operative Nursing is an advantage but not compulsory.

We offer Advanced Diploma in peri-operative nursing sponsorships to interested staff, and the study venue isNanyang PolytechnicorNgee Ann Polytechnic.

Full Monthly Salary will be maintained during study period for Advanced Diploma course.

Novena Bladeless Cataract Surgery & Eye Specialist Centre is both an Ophthalmology clinic and Day Surgery Centre at Royal Square Medical Centre in Novena, led by 2 doctors, Dr David Goh and Dr Natasha Lim. Our doctors have over 20 years of experience in treating all kinds of eye diseases, including cataract, glaucoma, retina and diabetic eye conditions, floaters, autoimmune and uveitis eye conditions etc. We have our own MOH licensed Ambulatory Day Surgery Centre that carry out procedures such as LASIK, LASEK, PRK, ICL, bladeless femtosecond laser cataract surgery, intravitreal injections for wet age-related macular degeneration and diabetic macular disease, and all types of glaucoma surgery. Our doctors were both from Singapore National Eye Centre, with previous advanced fellowship training at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, UK. The clinic is recognised as a Centre ofExcellence for presbyopia correction, with international publications, invited conference presentations, and pioneering work in LASIK and Lenticule extraction laser vision correction.

We have a team of 4-5 optometrists and opticians, 5-6 registered staff nurses and 1 administrative staff.
