Job summary

ITCAN PTE. LIMITED is seeking a Database Administrator/Engineer in Singapore to install, configure, and optimize Microsoft SQL Server environments. You will monitor health, perform backups, and troubleshoot performance issues while implementing HA/DR strategies and security policies.

The role involves regular migrations, patching, and automation using T-SQL and PowerShell, with collaboration across IT and development teams. On-call support is required as part of the duties.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
• Proficient in T-SQL and SQL query optimization.
• Experience with SSMS and database maintenance plans.
• Knowledge of HA/DR solutions and database security.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade Microsoft SQL Server databases.
• Monitor performance, availability, capacity, and health of databases.
• Perform regular backup, restore, and recovery activities.
• Troubleshoot performance issues, blocking, deadlocks, and connectivity problems.
• Optimize SQL queries and perform performance tuning.
• Manage indexes, procedures, views, functions, and jobs.
• Configure and maintain HA/DR solutions, including Always On and failover
• Support Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, Log Shipping, and Replication.
• Manage database users, roles, permissions, and security policies.
• Perform migrations, patching, upgrades, and server refresh activities.
• Monitor storage, growth, CPU, memory, and utilization.
• Develop scripts using T-SQL/PowerShell for automation.
• Perform root-cause analysis and implement preventive measures.
• Collaborate with application, infrastructure, development, and support teams.
• Provide production database support and participate in on-call after-hours.
