Job summary

SAGL Consulting Pte. Ltd. is seeking an L2 Database Administrator to support enterprise SQL Server and Azure SQL environments in a managed-services setting. The role covers production support, troubleshooting, performance tuning and backup/recovery, with exposure to AWS databases.

You will work with cross-functional teams across infrastructure, cloud, and application groups, implement HA/DR using Always On and other technologies, and follow ITIL-based incident and change processes.

Qualifications

• 3-6 years hands-on database administration in enterprise or managed-services environments.
• Strong hands-on experience in Microsoft SQL Server administration.
• Hands-on experience with Azure SQL Database and/or Azure SQL Managed Instance.
• Practical experience with backup, restore and recovery.
• Good understanding of database performance monitoring and tuning.
• Experience with HA/DR and failover technologies, preferably SQL Server Always On, clustering, replication or log shipping.
• Exposure to AWS RDS/Aurora.
• Experience with MySQL and/or PostgreSQL is preferred.
• Good understanding of database security, access and permissions.
• Experience in ITIL/managed-services environments with SLA-based production support.

Responsibilities

• Provide L2 production support for Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL environments.
• Troubleshoot database availability, connectivity, performance, job failures and access-related issues.
• Monitor and resolve database alerts and incidents within SLA timelines.
• Perform backup, restore and recovery activities and support DR testing.
• Troubleshoot slow queries, blocking, deadlocks, indexing and resource bottlenecks and perform basic to intermediate tuning.
• Support HA/DR environments, including Always On, clustering, replication, log shipping and failover arrangements.
• Implement and support database changes, upgrades, patching and maintenance activities.
• Support AWS database services such as Amazon RDS and Aurora.
• Coordinate with application, infrastructure, cloud, network and storage teams for cross-platform incident resolution.
• Follow ITIL-based Incident, Problem, Change and Request Management processes and maintain operational documentation.
