Job summary

New Life Community Services seeks a passionate SEN Mentor to support children aged 7–12 with Special Educational Needs in our Student Care Centres.

You will design intervention sessions, develop ILPs, engage families and educators, and mentor junior mentors to uphold inclusive practices across centres.

The role emphasizes collaboration, documentation, and ongoing professional learning to improve outcomes for children and families.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Special Education, Psychology, Child Development, or related fields.
  • Additional SEN certifications are advantageous.
  • Experience with ILPs and progress monitoring preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct structured SEN intervention sessions for children with SEN.
  • Develop and review Individual Learning Plans (ILPs).
  • Collaborate with families, therapists, and educators to ensure consistency of support strategies.
  • Mentor junior SEN Mentors and support programme development across centres.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of student progress.

Job description

New Life Student Care is catered to Primary school-going children, aged 7 – 12. Our mission is to nurture children to be thoughtful thinkers and confident contributors by providing holistic engagement at our centres.

Weare seeking a passionate and experienced SEN Mentor to provide specialized support to children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) within our Student Care Centres.

As a key member of our Learning Support Programme, you will design and facilitate intervention sessions, develop Individual Learning Plans (ILPs), collaborate with families and educators, and mentor junior SEN Mentors. This role is ideal for individuals who are committed to inclusive education and making a meaningful impact in the lives of children and their families.

Key Responsibilities
Student Intervention & Support
  • Plan and conduct structured intervention sessions for children with SEN.
  • Implement evidence-informed strategies to support learning readiness, executive functioning, behaviour regulation, social-emotional development, and academic growth.
  • Differentiate learning approaches based on individual student needs.
  • Foster a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.
Assessment & Learning Planning
  • Conduct observations and assessments to identify students' strengths and developmental needs.
  • Develop and review Individual Learning Plans (ILPs).
  • Monitor student progress and adjust intervention strategies accordingly.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation.
Parent & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Build strong partnerships with parents and caregivers.
  • Provide regular updates on student progress.
  • Collaborate with therapists, intervention providers, and educators to ensure consistency in support strategies.
  • Work closely with Centre Supervisors and Teacher-Mentors to enhance inclusive practices.
Programme Development
  • Support the implementation of the Learning Support Programme across centres.
  • Develop and adapt intervention resources and teaching materials.
  • Contribute ideas and recommendations to improve programme effectiveness.
  • Assist in programme evaluation and data collection.
Leadership & Team Development
  • Model effective SEN intervention and inclusive teaching practices.
  • Provide guidance and peer support to SEN Mentors.
  • Participate actively in professional learning and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
Qualifications
  • Diploma or Degree in Special Education, Psychology, Child Development, Education Psychology, or related disciplines.
  • Additional SEN-related certifications will be an advantage.
Experience
  • Minimum 3 years' experience working with children aged 7-12 years with Special Educational Needs in a group setting.
  • Experience developing intervention plans, ILPs, and progress monitoring frameworks preferred.
  • Experience working in student care, educational, learning support, SPED, or early intervention environments would be advantageous.
