Job summary

Intellect Minds Pte Ltd is seeking a Backup Storage Administrator to monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot backup jobs across Windows, UNIX, VMware, Oracle, and SQL Server. You will support storage systems and perform capacity planning and DR testing.

The role requires Python/PowerShell scripting, strong storage/backup knowledge, and 3–5 years of relevant experience with a degree. Expect to work on-call and during off-peak hours as needed.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Computer Information Systems or related field.
• 3-5 years relevant working experience (preferably in Business Continuity Planning / Disaster Recovery)
• Proficient in storage and backup; Python/PowerShell is a must.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of backup jobs on platforms (MS Active Directory, Exchange, Oracle, SQL Server, Windows, VMware, UNIX servers).
• Analyze backup software performance to meet client needs and monitor scheduled backups for success or remedial action in case of failure
• Provide backup system data statistics to management
• Perform regular DR (Disaster Recovery) test plans for backup data restoration and storage replication availability
• Monitor usage and performance of storage, performing capacity planning for storage growth and providing management with updates
• Manage storage and backup changes through change request processes and provide status reports to relevant parties
• Respond to incidents with timely status updates and resolutions
• Monitor service levels, document configurations, and provide regular reporting
• Ensure service levels meet requirements and propose action plans when necessary
• Expected to work during off-peak hours for system activities (patching, upgrades)
• Identify, research, and resolve technical problems
• Operate within guidelines with minimal supervision

Job Scope

• Perform daily monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of backup jobs on platforms (MS Active Directory, Exchange, Oracle, SQL Server, Windows, VMware, UNIX servers).

Python / PowerShell ing Language

• Manage and support Storage systems, including:
• Vulnerability remediation
• Capacity management
• Configuration management
• Provisioning and zoning of new servers using SAN switches
• Analyze backup software performance to meet client needs and monitor scheduled backups for success or remedial action in case of failure
• Provide backup system data statistics to management
• Perform regular DR (Disaster Recovery) test plans for backup data restoration and storage replication availability
• Monitor usage and performance of storage, performing capacity planning for storage growth and providing management with updates
• Manage storage and backup changes through change request processes and provide status reports to relevant parties
• Respond promptly to incidents, investigate, and provide temporary and/or permanent resolutions, with timely status updates to relevant parties
• Monitor agreed service levels, document & maintain system configurations, and provide regular reporting
• Ensure service levels meet requirements and propose and implement action plans when necessary
• Expected to work during off-peak hours for system activities (e.g., patching, upgrades)
• Identify, research, and resolve technical problems
• Operate within set guidelines, policies, and procedures, executing instructions with minimal supervision

Who we are looking for

• Degree/Diploma in Computer Information Systems or related field
• Preferred knowledge in EMC Networker / EMC Data Domain / VEEAM
• Proficient in storage and backup
• Python / PowerShell ing Language is a must
• 3 - 5 years relevant working experience (preferably in Business Continuity Planning / Disaster Recovery)
• Working knowledge of Veritas NetBackup / EMC ISILON / EMC VMAX / EMC POWERMAX (good to have but not a must)
• Understanding of orchestration and automation methodologies in service provider environments
