St. Andrew's Autism Centre (SAAC) seeks a Social Work Assistant to support families through assessments, admissions, crises, and transition planning, balancing casework with essential administrative duties.
You'll coordinate intake and means-testing, liaise with SG Enable, MOE, and schools, and contribute to care plans within a multidisciplinary team. The role offers structured supervision and opportunities to grow into broader casework and programme responsibilities.
At St. Andrew's Autism Centre (SAAC), we are more than just an organisation — we are united by a shared purpose: to enable persons with autism to lead dignified and meaningful lives. Our people are at the heart of this mission, and we are committed to fostering a supportive, enriching, and meaningful work environment that reflects our LIGHT values (Love, Integrity, Growth, Honour and Teamwork).
As a Social Work Assistant at SAAC, you will support families through some of their most significant moments — from a child's first assessment for admission, to a family navigating a crisis, to a young adult's transition into life after graduation. Your work sits at the intersection of casework, community, and care coordination, helping ensure that no family navigates the system alone.
If you're drawn to work where administrative precision and human connection go hand in hand — where getting a means-testing submission right matters just as much as understanding a family through a difficult conversation — you'll feel right at home here.
Joining SAAC means building your social work practice under the guidance of experienced practitioners across casework, group work, programme development, and community work. You'll be exposed to the full breadth of social work practice within a disability setting — not just one narrow function — while receiving structured supervision as you grow into independent casework. We are also committed to remuneration that reflects the value and expertise of our Allied Professional team, and is fair and competitive within the social service and healthcare sector.
These milestones reflect a typical starting point — if you're joining with prior experiences in casework or a disability setting, we'll shape your first 6-12 months around the skills and confidence you already bring.
This role carries meaningful administrative responsibility alongside direct casework — roughly in equal measure. Both are essential to how families experience SAAC, and both are described in full below so you know exactly what to expect.
A Social Work Assistant at SAAC works at the intersection of casework, community, and administration — supporting families through assessments, transitions, and crises, while ensuring the systems and schemes behind the scenes run smoothly. You'll be supported by an experienced Social Work team and a genuinely collaborative multidisciplinary environment, with real opportunity to grow into broader casework and programme responsibilities over time.
You will report to the Senior Social Worker, who oversees social work practice across both the School and Adult Services. You'll be part of a team that works closely with Allied Heath professionals, and educators, meeting regularly to coordinate care and support for clients and families. The team culture values mentorship and shared learning — questions are welcomed, and your growth into more independent casework is actively supported by senior colleagues.
This role is based across St. Andrew's Autism School and St. Andrew's Adult Autism Services, depending on caseload and scheme assignment.
Remuneration and point of entry will commensurate with qualifications and experience, and reflect fair, competitive pay within the social service and healthcare sector.
All applications will be handled with strict confidence. We regret that only short-listed candidates will be notified.
