Job description

As a Data Science Engineer at Micron, you will employ techniques and theories from mathematics, statistics, semiconductor physics, materials science, and information technology to uncover patterns in data, develop predictive models, actionable insights, and solutions.

You will collaborate with Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Business Area Engineers, and UX teams to identify questions and issues for data analysis projects and to improve existing tools.

In this position, you will help develop software programs, algorithms, and automated processes to cleanse, integrate, and evaluate large datasets from multiple disparate sources, and identify meaningful insights.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and program methods, processes, and systems to consolidate and analyze unstructured, diverse big‑data sources to generate actionable insights and solutions for client services and product enhancement.
• Interact with product and service teams to identify questions and issues for data analysis and experiments.
• Develop and code software programs, algorithms, and automated processes to cleanse, integrate, and evaluate large datasets from multiple disparate sources.
• Identify meaningful insights from large data and metadata sources.
• Interpret and communicate insights and findings from analysis and experiments to product, service, and business managers.
• Explore and apply new frontier ideas, concepts, and technology to enable breakthrough solutions at Micron.
• Work with management, different departments, and global manufacturing sites to identify optimization opportunities and deliver solutions to continually improve production metrics.
• Drive global collaboration, alignment, and benchmarking of optimization and simulation solutions in planning & operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, or equivalent, with demonstrated strong programming and modeling capabilities.
• Past experience in the semiconductor industry, especially in semiconductor operations digital twin.
• Past experience in simulation modeling using discrete‑event simulation.
• Past experience in optimization modeling or operations research using mixed‑integer programming, linear programming, etc.
• Knowledge and past experience with cloud solutions, API, GIT, ETL.
• Past experience in JAVA, Python, SQL, HTML, C/C++, CSS.
• Fast learning capacity in programming languages.
• Strong problem‑solving skills with structured and logical approaches, and clear and effective communication skills.
