Job summary

Institute of Microelectronics (IME) in Singapore is seeking a Research Engineer to support Silicon Photonics PDK development, data management, PIC layout design, GDS verification, and MPW tape-out activities. You will work with multidisciplinary teams to enable design and technology deployment for silicon photonics innovations.

Required degrees include Bachelor/Master/PhD in electrical/electronics/photonic fields; strong scripting in Python/Tcl/MATLAB and familiarity with CAD tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's/Master's/PhD in Electrical/Electronics/Photonics or related field.
• Knowledge of silicon photonics and PICs.
• Experience with layout design, GDS generation, and tape-out flows for photonics/semiconductors.
• Familiarity with EDA tools such as Cadence Virtuoso, KLayout, Lumerical, Synopsys photonic tools.
• Experience with PDK development, management and deployment is a plus.
• Knowledge of DRC/LVS and design verification methods.
• Proficiency in Python, SKILL, Tcl, or MATLAB for automation.
• Experience with data management, databases, and version control is a plus.
• Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain Silicon Photonics PDKs, including design libraries, technology files, models, and docs.
• Manage process, device data to ensure integrity, traceability, accessibility across teams.
• Support PIC layout generation, GDS creation, verification, and tape-out activities.
• Perform layout verification, DRC, and tape-out validation for manufacturability.
• Collaborate with process integration, device, test, and modeling teams to update data in design flows.
• Develop and maintain scripts, databases, and automation tools to boost productivity.
• Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations to support projects.
