Job summary

Gunvor Group Ltd in Singapore is seeking a Shipping Operations Intern to gain hands-on experience in the commodity trading industry, focusing on shipping and cargo operations within a dynamic, international setting. You will work with Voyage Controllers, Claims, Vetting, and Performance teams, learning from Freight Traders and Chartering colleagues while supporting day-to-day operations for tanker vessels.

The program runs for six months on a full-time basis, offering valuable practical exposure

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a university degree in Maritime Studies or a related field.
• Interest in Shipping or Oil Transportation.
• Strong communication and business writing skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with high attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and preferably Power BI.
• Ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and tools.
• Availability to commit to a full-time, 5-day work week for a 6-month internship period.

Responsibilities

• Gain foundational understanding of Tanker Operations – Shipping and Cargo.
• Support Voyage Controllers team in handling owner and voyage-related payments.
• Assist the Claims team in managing voyage-related claims such as demurrage and port claims.
• Learn from Freight Traders and the Chartering team about cargo/voyage fixtures.
• Support the Vetting team in understanding clearance procedures for operated tankers.
• Assist the Voyage Performance team in monitoring daily performance of time-chartered vessels.
• Participate in various projects across Shipping and Support teams.
• Ad-hoc duties as assigned by manager.
