Job summary

Johnson Controls seeks a skilled HVAC&R technician to troubleshoot, commission, and maintain IREF-related products across Southeast Asia, ensuring 100% uptime of critical systems and compliance with safety and company policies.

You will lead site service, manage tickets, prepare technical reports, and train customer teams while supporting a robust maintenance program and safety standards.

Qualifications

• University degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
• Minimum three years in the HVAC&R industry or relevant professional experience.
• Valid driving license preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge and skills gained through academic qualifications and/or practical work experience.
• Ability to apply industry knowledge and expertise in a professional environment.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot technical issues on IREF-related products, test systems for proper function, and manage service tickets for billing purposes for medium accounts/clients with moderate complexity systems.
• Provide leadership to ensure 100% uptime and reliability of the Remote Operations Center’s infrastructure, working closely with management to meet operational requirements, and maintaining compliance with regulatory and company policies.
• Execute commissioning of new equipment or systems, including installation verification, pre-commissioning, start-up, commissioning, performance testing, and optimization of industrial refrigeration systems.
• Handle all types of compressors and chillers, such as scroll, screw, reciprocating, centrifugal, multi-stage centrifugal and absorption.
• Carry out comprehensive plant audit for industrial refrigeration systems and provide detailed report on plant condition, observations, and recommendations.
• Provide site service and maintenance including preventive and corrective maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, upgrades, major equipment overhauls and replacements.
• Ensure safe and reliable handling of ammonia, CO2, hydrocarbon gases and other industrial refrigerants.
• Produce commissioning reports, technical documentation, and training materials.
• Conduct training for customers’ operation and maintenance teams in functional concepts and practical work.
• Travel within Southeast Asia with onshore and offshore assignments as required.
• Carry out service work to the highest possible standard in line with JCI policy and procedures and industry-recognised best practices.
• Complete service/commissioning work efficiently with minimum call backs and warranty expense.
• Ensure service reports are completed on time.
• Identify and promote potential opportunities for services, parts and products to customers.
• Supervise subcontractors working on behalf of JCI.
• Build and sustain growth of the maintenance base through customer relationship building.
• Maintain the highest standard of safety at all job sites, including JCI staff.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by management.
• Work in harsh, chemical-laden environments under the sun; standby with 24-hour call-out; and accept overseas assignments for more than one month.
• Lead communication with factory technical support during commissioning and warranty periods, and liaise with local engineering and project teams.
• Explain root cause to customers with strong technical knowledge and manage stress to meet timelines.
