Job summary

Shopee is seeking an experienced Trade Mark Counsel in Singapore to lead end-to-end prosecution across multiple jurisdictions, from filing through registration, with a focus on efficient docketing and coordination with external counsel.

The role requires at least 6 years in trade mark prosecution, with strong experience in handling contentious matters, Madrid Protocol practice, and managing international portfolios.

Qualifications

• At least 6 years of hands-on trade mark prosecution experience.
• Demonstrated experience managing multi-jurisdiction portfolios and instructing foreign associates, including Madrid Protocol practice.
• Practical experience with contentious matters (oppositions, cancellations, invalidations).
• Strong docketing discipline; meticulous, organised and committed to high-quality work.
• Proactive with autonomy and sound judgement on escalation.
• Patent prosecution experience is an advantage but not essential.
• Able to multitask and deliver at pace in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Handle end-to-end trade mark prosecution across multiple jurisdictions, from filing to registration.
• Run bulk and rolling filing programmes; scope class and jurisdiction coverage with business teams and manage Madrid Protocol routes.
• Manage the response workflow for office actions and refusals; prepare analyses, draft responses with external counsel, assemble evidence, and manage deadlines.
• Handle contentious matters including oppositions, invalidations, cancellations and appeals; supervise external counsels to decision.
• Support enforcement and brand protection: infringement and passing off complaints, takedowns, and coordination with business teams.
• End-to-end docketing: deadlines, renewals, recordals, portfolio records, trackers, filing and status reporting.
• Manage external counsel commercially: scope instructions, obtain fee quotes, monitor spend, and review invoices.
