Job summary

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY OFFICE OF SINGAPORE is seeking Associate Trade Mark Examiners to join the Registry of Trade Marks. You will work with fellow examiners to assess trade mark applications and ensure compliance with registration requirements, contributing to Singapore’s position as a global hub for IP.

The role includes an 18-month structured training period, combining on-the-job learning with mentoring and formal instruction, with opportunities to take on mentoring and supervisory

Qualifications

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Sound research, analytical and decision-making abilities.
• Meticulous, customer-oriented and attentive to detail.
• An interest in, or understanding of, how businesses brand, market and identify themselves.
• Able to work well both as a team player and as an individual contributor with ownership and responsibility for meeting targets.

Responsibilities

• Assess distinctiveness of proposed trade marks.
• Conduct searches for conflicting marks on the Singapore register.
• Review specifications of goods and services (classification aware).
• Communicate examination outcomes and provide guidance to applicants and their representatives.
• Support administrative and project-based responsibilities within the Registry.
• As you gain experience, mentoring, training and supervisory duties may be added.
