Job summary

Ng Teng Fong General Hospital is seeking an Occupational Therapist to support therapists in clinical duties, patient assessments, and mobility training at Jurong Community Hospital and Lifehub facilities.

The role involves orthotics management, programme delivery, and educating patients and caregivers. Requires a WFOT-accredited OT degree or a Master’s in OT and 2+ years of relevant experience outside Singapore.

Qualifications

• Degree in Occupational Therapy from a WFOT-accredited programme or a Post-Graduate Master’s in Occupational Therapy.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant OT experience outside Singapore.
• PC literacy is essential.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in clinical duties to support the Therapist.
• Take patients' vitals, administer questionnaires, and perform basic case history and clinical assessments.
• Assist in setting up patients on therapeutic equipment and facilitate treatment modalities.
• Support mobility training and use of gait devices and prosthetics.
• Assist orthotics fabrication, fitting, and adjustments.
• Lead group therapy sessions and run therapy programmes including pre-discharge training at Lifehub and Mobility Park.
• Educate patients and caregivers, assist with translation, and identify clinical issues for feedback.

Job Scope:

• To assist in clinical duties as listed below to facilitate the Therapist in carrying out their work
• Patient Assessment and Monitoring - Take patients' vitals, administer questionnaires, conduct basic case history taking, screenings and clinical assessments, and monitor patient progress
• Therapeutic Equipment and Treatment Setup - Assist in setting up patients on therapeutic equipment and facilitate various treatment modalities under therapist guidance
• Patient Mobility and Exercise Training - Assist patients with mobilisation, therapeutic activities, exercises, retraining, and provide transfer, gait, prosthetic and mobility aids training
• Orthotics and Splint Management - Apply orthotics effectively, fabricate advanced splints, and make necessary modifications and adjustments to existing splints
• Independent Programme Delivery - Lead group therapy sessions independently and run therapy programmes, including pre-discharge training at Lifehub and Mobility Park
• Patient and Caregiver Support - Educate patients and caregivers on therapy topics, assist with language translation, prepare diet consistencies, and identify clinical issues for therapist feedback
• Documentation and Communication - Document relevant information accurately on electronic documentation with therapist co-signature where necessary and report patient-related clinical matters to the therapist

Job Requirements:

• Degree in the field of Occupational Therapy from a recognised WFOT accredited porgramme OR a Post-Graduate Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy with a relevant bachelor’s degree in health sciences. Qualification not recognised by Singapore Allied Health Professional Council (AHPC)
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience as an occupational therapist outside Singapore
• PC literacy is essential
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Organizational and time management skills
