Job summary

PARKROYAL PICKERING HOTEL PTE. LTD. is seeking an experienced Senior Technician to join the Engineering team. The role focuses on maintaining hotel facilities and building systems, troubleshooting technical issues, and supporting safe, efficient hotel operations.

You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance, assist in supervising contractors, document work, and respond quickly to emergencies while upholding WS H and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • NITEC or Higher NITEC in Electrical/Mechanical/Building Services or related technical discipline.
  • 3–5 years of relevant engineering or facilities experience.
  • Experience in hotel or commercial building is an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance of hotel facilities and systems.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC issues.
  • Attend to maintenance requests from guest rooms and public areas.
  • Diagnose faults and recommend repairs.
  • Respond to breakdowns to minimise disruption.
  • Guide junior technicians and provide support.
  • Coordinate defect repairs and preventive maintenance.
  • Supervise external contractors to ensure safe, compliant work.
  • Inspect plant rooms and report abnormalities.
  • Maintain records of maintenance and servicing.
  • Ensure compliance with WSH, fire safety and hotel safety.
  • Support energy conservation and sustainability initiatives.
  • Assist engineering supervisors with operational matters.
  • Perform other engineering duties as assigned.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Senior Technician to join our Engineering team. The role is responsible for maintaining the hotel's facilities and building systems, troubleshooting technical issues and supporting the team in ensuring safe and efficient hotel operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance of hotel facilities, equipment and building systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical, mechanical, plumbing, air-conditioning and other M&E-related issues.
  • Attend promptly to technical issues and maintenance requests from guest rooms, public areas and operational departments.
  • Diagnose equipment faults and recommend appropriate repair or rectification works.
  • Respond to breakdowns and emergencies to minimise operational disruption and impact on guests.
  • Guide and provide technical support to junior technicians in troubleshooting and maintenance works.
  • Coordinate and follow up on outstanding defects, repairs and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Assist in supervising external contractors and ensure works are completed safely and according to required standards.
  • Conduct routine inspections of plant rooms, equipment and hotel facilities and report any abnormalities.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, inspections and equipment servicing.
  • Ensure compliance with Workplace Safety & Health (WSH), fire safety and hotel safety requirements.
  • Support energy conservation, sustainability and Engineering improvement initiatives.
  • Assist the Engineering supervisors with operational and technical matters when required.
  • Perform other Engineering-related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
  • NITEC / Higher NITEC or equivalent qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, Building Services, Facilities Management or a related technical discipline.
  • Preferably 3–5 years of relevant Engineering, Facilities or Building Maintenance experience.
  • Previous experience in a hotel, serviced residence, commercial building or similar environment is an advantage.
  • Good technical knowledge of M&E systems and general building maintenance.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work independently and provide guidance to junior team members.
  • Responsible, proactive and able to respond effectively to operational emergencies.
  • Good teamwork, communication and coordination skills.
  • Service-oriented with an understanding of the importance of guest experience.
  • Able to perform physical and hands-on work.
  • Able to work rotating shifts, weekends and Public Holidays according to operational requirements.
