Job summary

Hafnia seeks an experienced Chief Engineer for sea-going duties with leadership over vessel machinery and safety systems. You will oversee day-to-day technical operations, maintain energy efficiency and ensure compliance with applicable regulations across fleets.

The role requires at least 7 years at sea and a Chief Engineer license is preferred. You will coordinate with shipboard management, crewing and maintenance teams to optimise performance and cost control aboard tankers.

Qualifications

Minimum 7 years of sailing experience.
At least 2 years’ experience at sea as a Chief Engineer or a Senior Second Engineer.
Chief Engineer’s License preferred.
Able to travel and visit vessels when required.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Able to work independently and in a team setting.

Responsibilities

Demonstrate commitment to the company 'Vision, Purpose and Values' to be 'Best on Water' and reinforce 'Zero Harm' initiatives onboard ships and ashore.
Ensure ships follow energy management initiatives and address deviations with priority.
Monitor, manage and report day-to-day technical operation and performance of vessel with onboard management.
Closely monitor compliance with statutory, class, future regulations and third-party requirements.
Conduct bi-annual vessel inspections and follow up on inspection deficiencies and internal reports.
Manage dry-docking processes from planning to final reporting per procedures.
Ensure third-party contractors comply with health, safety and environmental policies.
Develop and monitor running cost budgets in line with KPIs; liaise with OPEX Controller.
