Job summary

MTC Consulting Pte Ltd in Singapore is seeking a Civil/Structural Design Coordinator to lead technical coordination and design management on a major construction project. You will guide a team of design engineers, coordinate with consultants, authorities, and clients to ensure compliance.

The role requires a degree in civil or structural engineering and at least 5 years of relevant experience in building construction, preferably with A1 main contractors.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Relevant experience in building construction for commercial, industrial, mixed development or high rise projects, preferably with A1 main contractors.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience in a construction or engineering consultancy environment.
• Strong knowledge of local building codes, authority regulations, and construction methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical coordination and design management aspects of construction projects.
• Lead and manage a team of Design/Coordination Engineers in coordinating design drawings with consultants, ensuring compliance with authority regulations and project specifications.
• Act as the key liaison between consultants, clients, contractors, and authorities on all design-related matters.
• Guide the team in preparing technical submissions, including shop drawings, material approvals, and method statements for construction.
• Coordinate and monitor submission processes to local authorities to ensure compliance and timely approvals.
• Lead the resolution of design and technical issues encountered during construction by liaising with Architectural and M&E teams, consultants, and relevant authorities.
• Review and address technical queries by raising RFAs and RFIs to the relevant parties for design clarification.
• Initiate and evaluate value engineering proposals to enhance project delivery in terms of cost-effectiveness, safety, constructability, and quality.
