Job summary

AMD Singapore is seeking a senior technical expert for advanced SMT and board-assembly process development on high-complexity computing platforms. You will define assembly strategies, influence product design, and make complex PCB assemblies manufacturable, especially large BGA packages with warpage challenges.

You will lead end-to-end SMT process development, own assembly of large BGAs, and work with contract manufacturers and suppliers to qualify capabilities and drive improvements.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on SMT process development for high-complexity PCB assemblies.
• Experience with large BGAs (>70 mm) and high warpage, including measurement methods.
• Strong DOE, statistics and root-cause analysis skills.
• Knowledge of IPC/J-STD standards and board-level reliability qualification.
• Experience collaborating with global EMS partners and vendors.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end SMT process development and define robust process windows for yield and reliability.
• Own assembly of large, high-warpage BGA packages and derive design rules and controls.
• Reduce solder defects through stencil design, paste/flux selection, and reflow optimization.
• Define edge bonding and underfill strategies to improve board reliability and heat transfer.
• Evaluate mechanical stress transfer to solder joints and ensure repeatable post-SMT rework processes.
• Lead DFM reviews and author board-assembly guidelines for internal and EMS partners.
• Run DOEs and root-cause analyses for complex yield/reliability issues; explore new tech.
• Collaborate with manufacturers, suppliers and vendors to qualify capability and drive improvements.
