Job summary

FLOWDESK ASIA PTE. LTD. is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design and build core services powering our global trading platform in a high-availability, low-latency environment.

You will contribute to system architecture, implement scalable backend systems for OTC and API trading, and ensure high performance with Rust and TypeScript tooling. Collaboration with SRE/Infra and cross-functional teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Solid experience as a backend engineer in high-availability, low-latency environments.
• Strong programming skills in Rust (or systems-level language) and familiarity with TypeScript.
• Knowledge of API design (REST, WebSocket) including authentication, authorization, rate limiting, and versioning.
• Comfortable with SQL and NoSQL databases, including schema design and performance optimization.
• Experience running services in cloud and containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS/GCP) and with CI/CD tools.
• Strong debugging and performance profiling skills with a methodical approach to production issues.
• Ability to collaborate across teams and communicate technical concepts clearly to stakeholders.
• Organized, pragmatic, and delivery-focused with a bias for continuous learning.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain microservices primarily written in Rust, with some services and tooling in TypeScript.
• Contribute to system architecture and design discussions, helping shape the evolution of our backend services and trading platform.
• Implement scalable, resilient backend systems supporting OTC and API trading workflows.
• Build and optimize high-performance trading services, with a focus on low latency and high throughput.
• Develop and maintain REST and WebSocket APIs, with proper versioning and robust documentation.
• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code following industry best practices and review standards.
• Monitor, diagnose, and resolve production issues in collaboration with SRE/Infra.
• Deploy, scale, and monitor microservices in Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines.
