Job summary

PNX PETROLEUM SINGAPORE PTE. LTD. seeks an experienced Senior Risk Manager to oversee and strengthen the risk management framework supporting the company’s physical oil and commodity trading activities.

The ideal candidate will work closely with trading, operations, finance and management teams to identify, monitor and manage market, credit, counterparty and operational risks arising from the company’s trading activities in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in oil, energy or commodity trading risk management.
• Strong understanding of physical oil and commodity trading, pricing mechanisms and commodity derivatives.
• Strong knowledge of commodity swaps, futures and other hedging instruments.
• Strong understanding of market risk, credit risk, counterparty risk and trading controls.
• Hands-on experience with MTM, exposure monitoring, VaR, stress testing and risk limit frameworks.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills with the ability to understand complex physical and derivative trading positions.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with traders, senior management, finance, operations and other stakeholders.
• Able to work independently and exercise sound judgement in a fast-paced trading environment.
• Experience in petroleum products such as crude oil, fuel oil, gasoil, gasoline, naphtha and LPG would be advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of Excel and other programming languages used to develop and improve monitoring and reporting tools.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and monitor risk exposures arising from physical oil and commodity trading activities and related derivative positions.
• Review daily trading positions, market exposures, mark-to-market (MTM), profit and loss and trading limits.
• Monitor hedging activities involving commodity swaps, futures and other derivatives against underlying physical exposures.
• Develop, maintain and enhance the Company’s risk management policies, controls and reporting framework.
• Perform risk analysis including Value-at-Risk (VaR), stress testing and scenario analysis.
• Monitor counterparty and credit exposures, including payment terms, credit limits, outstanding receivables and collateral or security arrangements where applicable.
• Review new transactions and trading structures from a risk perspective and identify key market, credit and commercial risks.
• Work closely with traders to understand physical and derivative positions and ensure exposures are appropriately identified, monitored and managed.
• Provide independent risk oversight and challenge to the trading desk where appropriate.
• Prepare regular risk reports and provide management with clear analysis of key exposures, concentration risks and emerging risk issues.
• Support management in responding to risk-related queries from banks, auditors and other stakeholders.
• Continuously review and enhance risk systems, processes and internal controls in line with the development and growth of the Company’s trading activities.
