WHITE GATE PARTNERS PTE. LTD. in Singapore is seeking an Analytics & Risk Analyst to support its growing trading business, combining market intelligence, trading analytics and portfolio risk monitoring across physical and financial energy markets.

You will work with Trading, Operations, Finance, Treasury and Supply Chain to deliver insights, scenario analysis and commercial modelling, with 3–5 years of relevant experience and a strong command of Excel, SQL and data visualization tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in market analytics, commodity risk or trading support.
• Experience in energy trading, exposure to physical/derivatives markets is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyse daily trading positions, P&L and exposures across energy markets.
• Produce daily/weekly/monthly trading performance reports for management.
• Monitor market fundamentals: supply/demand, inventories, freight, margins and price moves.
• Support traders with pricing analysis, market research and modelling.
• Conduct scenario analysis and sensitivity testing for market conditions.
• Evaluate arbitrage opportunities and trading strategies.
• Monitor MTM, P&L, VaR and stress testing; ensure risk policy compliance.
• Develop dashboards and automate recurring reports for senior stakeholders.

Our client, a leading energy commodities trading company is seeking an analytical and commercially driven Analytics &Risk Analyst to support its growing trading business.

The successful candidate will work closely with Trading, Operations, Finance, Treasury and Supply Chain teams, providing market intelligence, trading analytics, portfolio risk monitoring and commercial insights across physical and financial energy markets.

This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with 3-5 years of experience in commodity analytics, risk management, trading support or commercial analysis to develop deeper expertise in global energy markets and work alongside experienced trading professionals.

Key Responsibilities

Trading & Commercial Analytics

• Analyse daily trading positions, P&L and market exposures across physical and financial energy commodities.
• Produce daily, weekly and monthly trading performance reports for management.
• Monitor market fundamentals including supply/demand balances, inventories, freight rates, refinery margins and price movements.
• Support traders through pricing analysis, market research and commercial modelling.
• Conduct scenario analysis and sensitivity testing to assess changing market conditions.
• Assist in evaluating arbitrage opportunities and trading strategies.

Market Risk & Portfolio Monitoring

• Monitor trading activities against approved trading limits and risk policies.
• Prepare daily reports covering Mark-to-Market (MTM), P&L, position exposure, VaR and stress testing.
• Identify unusual trading exposures or P&L movements and escalated findings where appropriate.
• Support reviews of hedging effectiveness and risk mitigation strategies.
• Analyse profitability by commodity, customer and trading strategy.
• Evaluate cargo economics, inventory positions, storage costs and logistics performance.

Data Analytics & Reporting

• Develop and maintain dashboards using Power BI, Excel or Tableau.
• Automate recurring reports and improve reporting efficiency.
• Ensure the accuracy and integrity of market data, pricing curves and trading information.
• Prepare management reports and presentations for senior stakeholders.
• Support month-end valuation and reconciliation processes.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with Trading, Operations, Finance, Treasury and Supply Chain teams.
• Support financial modelling for commercial transactions and structured deals.
• Assist with forecasting and budgeting related to trading performance.
• Support internal and external audits through analytical reports and documentation.
• Participate in projects to enhance reporting systems and analytics capabilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Energy Economics, Business Analytics or a related discipline.
• 3-5 years of relevant experience in market analytics, commodity risk management, trading support or commercial analysis.
• Experience within an energy trading company, oil & gas company, commodity trading house, utility or financial institution with commodities exposure.
• Exposure to physical and/or derivatives trading is preferred.
• Strong understanding of energy commodity markets and trading dynamics.
• Strong Microsoft Excel and financial modelling skills.
• Experience with SQL and data analysis tools.
• Knowledge of Python and/or Power BI is preferred.
• Familiarity with ETRM/CTRM systems such as Endur, Allegro, RightAngle or AspectCTRM is an advantage.
• Experience with Bloomberg, ICE, Platts, Argus or Refinitiv market data platforms is desirable.
• FRM, CFA, ERP or PRM certification would be an advantage.
