Job summary

Nanyang Technological University seeks a Senior Research Fellow to advance vanadium redox flow battery stack development from pilot scale to commercial systems. The role bridges R&D, testing and production to enable smooth scale-up for real-world deployment.

You will design, validate, and optimize stack concepts, establish robust test rigs, and collaborate with manufacturing and supply chains to ensure manufacturability and cost-effectiveness through data-driven improvements.

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in Mechanical engineering, Chemical engineering, electrochemical, materials, or a related discipline.
• 2–5 years hands-on experience in electrochemical stack development, preferably vanadium redox flow batteries, fuel cells, or similar systems.
• Strong practical knowledge of stack scaling, assembly, and performance testing.
• Experience with durability testing, failure analysis, and data-driven design improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead vanadium redox flow battery stack development from prototype to commercial scale, ensuring performance and reliability.
• Develop, assemble, and validate stack designs through structured testing, durability studies, and failure analysis.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and supply chain to ensure designs are production-ready and cost-effective.
• Establish test rigs, SOPs, and quality benchmarks, using performance data to drive continuous design improvement.
