Job summary

ByteDance seeks an experienced Network Architect to own APAC office networks and cross-region backbone projects from Singapore. You will shape designs, lead multi-region deployments, and drive operational governance for high availability and security.

Role requires strong English communication, vendor coordination, and hands-on design and implementation across campus, WAN, and data center networks in a fast‑growing tech environment. Based in Singapore.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or above in a related technical discipline or equivalent practical experience.
• Extensive IT network architecture design, planning, buildout, and operations governance experience.
• Expert knowledge of TCP/IP, routing/switching, BGP/OSPF/IS-IS, MPLS, VXLAN, EVPN, QoS, VPN, NAT, DNS, DHCP.
• Experience with IPv4/IPv6 dual-stack, large-scale office, backbone, or cross-region WAN networks.
• Strong hands-on capability in solution design, change assessment, fault isolation, and operational handover.
• Excellent English communication, able to lead technical discussions and produce documentation.

Responsibilities

Team IntroductionGlobal Infra Reliability and Excellence (Global RE) is responsible for IT infrastructure reliability across AMS, EMEA, and APAC, covering both network and system domains. The team drives architecture evolution, regional operations, service resilience, delivery standards, automation, and roadmap execution for global offices, POPs, backbone connectivity, and core infrastructure services.Our direction is to enhance a globally integrated network and system team, strengthen regional ownership, shift operational capability left, and coordinate cross-region execution through virtual teams. This Singapore-based role will focus on APAC network architecture, office and workplace network delivery, POP and service operations, project acceptance, user experience, and local risk closure while aligning with global architecture principles, service baselines, and delivery and operations playbooks.

• Own architecture design, buildout, optimization, and operations governance for global office networks, workplace networks, data center access, and cross-border backbone connectivity, ensuring high availability, performance, security, and scalability.
• Lead capacity expansion for regional office network, research and development, and operations scenarios, ensuring delivery meets quality, cost, and timeline expectations.
• Design enterprise network architecture aligned with IT strategy and business growth, including campus networks, wireless networks, WAN, SD-WAN, data center interconnect, cloud connectivity, IPv4 and IPv6 dual-stack coverage, network security boundaries, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Act as the technical owner for key projects, driving cross-region network build, transformation, migration, and incident remediation initiatives; coordinate network, system, security, facilities, procurement, legal and compliance teams, carriers, and external vendors to identify and resolve project risks.
• Build and maintain global network delivery standards, design templates, implementation guidelines, acceptance criteria, operations SOPs, MOPs, and emergency response playbooks to create repeatable network delivery methodology across countries and regions.
• Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex network issues, own major incident response, RCA reviews, and long-term improvements, and reduce the impact of network risk on business continuity.
• Track and evaluate emerging technologies such as SD-WAN, SDN, SASE, Zero Trust, SRv6, Wi‑Fi 6, Wi‑Fi 7, network observability, and automation; apply them to architecture evolution, operational efficiency, and cost optimization.
• Regularly assess office network infrastructure capacity, performance, stability, and security risk, and drive improvements across link quality, wireless experience, network device lifecycle, configuration compliance, and asset efficiency.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• ​Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Network Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Extensive experience in IT network architecture design, planning, buildout, optimization, and operations governance for enterprise office networks, workplace networks, data center access, and cross-region network environments.
• Expert knowledge of TCP and IP, routing and switching, wireless networking, load balancing, network security, and high availability architecture; strong understanding of BGP, OSPF, IS‑IS, MPLS, VXLAN, EVPN, QoS, VPN, NAT, DNS, and DHCP.
• Experience designing and operating IPv4 and IPv6 dual‑stack networks, large‑scale office networks, backbone networks, data center networks, or cross‑region WAN architectures.
• Strong hands‑on capability in solution design, configuration review, change assessment, fault isolation, performance optimization, implementation governance, and operational handover.
• Strong English communication skills, with the ability to lead technical discussions, coordinate with global and local stakeholders, and create or review HLD, LLD, RFC, MOP, SOP, RCA, RFP, SOW, acceptance reports, and project updates in English.
• Able to work locally in Singapore and collaborate across APAC; strong ownership, cross‑cultural collaboration, stakeholder management, project execution, and structured problem‑solving skills in a multi‑time‑zone environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience delivering multi‑country or regional network projects, including carrier coordination, IDC connectivity, office low‑voltage infrastructure, hardware procurement, vendor management, acceptance handover, and local compliance coordination; zero‑to‑one network build experience in a new country or city is a plus.
• Familiarity with mainstream network and security vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, Aruba, F5, Fortinet, and Palo Alto.
• Practical experience with SD‑WAN, SDN, SASE, network virtualization, cloud leased lines, cloud interconnect, network migration, or operations management.
• Experience in project or team leadership, including budget management, RFP processes, vendor delivery, milestone tracking, and risk management; PMP or equivalent project management experience is a plus.
• Network or security certifications such as CCIE, HCIE, JNCIE, ACDX, ACMX, ACCX, Fortinet NSE, Palo Alto PCNSE, or equivalent.
• Familiarity with ClearPass, Cisco ISE, NAC, Zero Trust access, high‑density wireless, wireless roaming optimization, and endpoint experience diagnostics.
• Experience using Python, Shell, Go, or similar tools to improve configuration checks, health inspection, certificate and asset lifecycle management, monitoring, alerting, ITSM, CMDB, observability, or NetDevOps workflows.
